Barbarella the Barbarian Huntress

First of all, sorry to the Jane Fonda fans, this has nothing to do with the 1968 movie :p. It\'s just to show the Barbarian Huntress bust from Taban Studio I finished. The nickname comes from the fact that Tracy calls hers Barbie :p.

So without further ado here she is :

And for those of you who would be kind enough to vote and leave a little comment, you\'ll find her here. Thanks in advance :).

A very nice piece of work and the freehand looks to be excellent. I would like a bit of better detail about the eyes in general but I think the colors that you chose for the bust are excellent.

Great work!

very nice results Cedric, the freehand is outstanding, and is giving me ideas for mine. Actually I\'m sitting staring at mine being completely intimidated, I don\'t know even where to start painting her, and here you go and throw up a high standard for it.

Excellent work, the only thing I can critique is that the photo looks a little dark and muted, it doesn\'t seem to be showing off your highlights so well.

Thanks to both of you :).

@Nathan : Sorry, I did this mini in two phases, and so I\'m not that happy with the face so to get closer details would mean to get into Barbarella\'s sword reach ;).

@Eric : Hum what to say considering the fact we all know the excellent artist you are ;)? Well I started with the face and then did her garments. I did a sketch for that freehand on the skull helmet before painting it, the volumes are a bit strange. The colors look dark because I \"fell in love\" with Scorched Brown. So most of the colors started with that one and give off that earth like look :p. And I also used the 15+ layer technique, which tends to make my paint so diluted that highlights are less marked than usual :p. Anyways, I\'m looking forward to seeing your interpretation of her ;). Here\'s an idea that I didn\'t use but I think you could do wonderfully : face warpaints.

Very nice stuff, Greenstuff...I love the colour of the skull. A bit unorthdox, but that\'s why I like it. The freehand on it is amazing, too.

The eyebrows look a bit funky, though....maybe thicken it up a bit and have it conform more to the brow ridge? The nmm steel looks good, kinda beaten, but the gold could do with more highlights, methinks. :)

no Duran Duran?

Sorry, I was hoping for some Barbarella and Duran Duran news, but I was pleasantly surprised.

That is very nice looking. Good work.

There\'s a lot of character in every aspect of the paintjob here, from the depth of shading in the skin tone to the beautiful freehand on the differently coloured skull! :D A wonderful job  Thanks for sharing ;)

Thank you all for your comments :). I can only suggest you to try your brushes on your own. The sculpt is truely a pleasent one to paint and Taban is fast and most kind when it comes to shipping her in good conditions.

Dude... I don\'t even feel qualified to make a comment on this. Bowing and worshipping doesn\'t seem adequate, even, to me.
They don\'t have a 12 on the voter, so I\'m forced to give it a mere 10.

I\'ve got to disagree, I think that the yellow metal looks exactly like old, well worn and weatherbeaten Brass.

Nice one Cedric. I really must get caught up on my painting this one is making me \"itchy\" to paint my own.

@Mike : Oh yes, please do paint yours up :). Up to now, I\'ve never seen any paint scheme of her. I was happy to see that Tracy came up with something completely different, and I bet that you, Eric, ... Finn ??? ;), and the others can find a whole range of variations for her.
