Summer\'s here, my wife went hog-wild and bought a Weber Gold 57 cm grill...now she claims it\'s mine...rather wish she\'d left me the new laptop instead...

Anyways, anybody got any good barbeque recipes? Looks like I\'m the cook for the rest of the summer...:(lollollol

fresh portobello(sp) mushrooms. cooked so that the underside is facing up, they eventually make ther own juice. very tasty. make sure they are fresh tho.

bell pepper.(do not cut up) cook all sides of it in the BBQ. place in plastic bag and remove the skin. very tasty.

provoke_me, why the plastic bag?

frenchkid..this is french cuisine?;)lollollol

equus..the Hawaiian rock salt..this is dug from the ground? What color is it? I use Himalayan rock salt, 650 million years old, from the dried-up mother-ocean Tethys -- it\'s pink and tastes great!

my favorite: lamb chops marinated in oil, garlic, fresh ginger, lemon juice, crushed rosemary and lavender leaves and muscovado cane suger ....mmmmmmm...

Hawaiian rock salt is very similiar to the Himalayan salt you mentioned, just newer. :D Traditionally, it\'s collected from evaporated sea water from depressions in the lava rocks along the shore. Mash a bunch of it into a steak or something. You lose a bunch of it during the grilling process, but the flavor seeps very nicely into the meat. Yum!

Recipe 1 - Get a leg of lamb - put some slits in it and fill those with alternating garlic and sprigs of rosemary. Stick on the BBQ and put the lid on and cook until nicely pink on the inside. Try not to fight over the bone

Recipe 2 - Make foild parcels and fill with melon, star fruit, kiwi, pineapple, anything you like really fruit wise that isn\'t going to explode. Put some rum over the top, wrap up the foil and stick on the bbq until warmed through

Recipe 3 - Take a banana, make a slit in the skin and put some chocolate in, put on the bbq slit side up until the banana goes mushy and the choc melts...server with a spoon. The same can be done with honey and liquer of choice for the adults

BTW, the plastic bag is to put the pepper in after its cooked. If you shake and rattle it about in there its easy to get the skin off

Marinade any meat in teriaki sauce or Italian salad dressing. Peal back the husk on corn on the cob without breaking it off. Butter, salt, a bit of seasoning. Put the husks back, tie top with string and BBQ..........yum.

Turkey Breats

Marinate turkey breasts in an equal mix of soy, teriyaki and sweet and sour sauce for about 3 hours. While this is marinating, cut up about 1 large onion into slices then quarters (so you have strips). Take the onions and turkey, and wrap them in tin foil. Grill in the foil until the turkey is cooked all the way through, then serve with the onions.

The basic idea behind a good pepper cook to to burn and peel. This has an advantage of cooking the pepper inside (the good part assuming you have removed the inner seeds and tendons) while removing the hard outter skin.

The idea is to start the process by burning the outside and heating the pepper. The next step is to take that still hot pepper and have it steam cook a little more in its own heat. The plastic bad holds in the steam allowing the cooking process to continue without causing a drying effect to happen.

Roasted peppers are great. Red, green, yellow, orange, I like them all.

I need to go get a BBQ grill so I can use some of these ideas.

EDIT: Those Turkey Breasts sound good Warworks.

My mouth is watering just reading this, i\'m going to have a go at all these at my next Barbie,

The other day we had prawns in a honey marinade, a VERY aquired taste, but i really liked them as i\'m partial to all seafood, however i can see that some people would not be as keen,

Also a full steak done on the barbeque cooked to medium/well done and put in a bun ( a big one) and eaten as a normal burger, some people mite find this a waste of a steak but i can\'t get enough of them :p

skewers

if you have a chinese supermarket nearby, try beef/pork/fish and cuttlefish balls, put them on a skewer, and glaze it with honey when you\'re close to done.
a few friends and i stuffed ourselves silly with these yesterday.

Right, Rab\'s barbeque recipe.

Get ready in plenty of time so that the food is nearly ready as guests arrive.

Drink beer.
Fill barbeque to top with charcoal.
Realise you can\'t fit the grill on now.
Remove charcoal until grill fits.

Drink more beer.
Light charcoal using proscribed barbeque lighters.
Swear repeatedly as the wind blows out match after match.
Use one match to ignite remainder of box and throw box into barbeque.
Swear some more when the box of matches goes out without lighting the charcoal.

Drink another beer.
Get lighter and lighter fluid, saturate charcoal with entire tin of fluid.
Light charcoal with lighter at arms length.
Retreat from leaping flames, grasping immolated hand and swearing.
Pour beer on hand.
Wait for flames to die back and realise that although the lighter has exploded and the paint is peeling off the barbeque, the charcoal remain resolutely unlit.

Drink more beer.
Syphon petrol from lawnmower, fill water pistol with petrol, use water pistol and borrowed lighter to make flame thrower.
Put out flames on garden shed, dog and small child.
Dance with joy as you realise that the charcoal has lit.

Drink beer.
Intercept firemen and explain that what your neighbour saw was not a small nuclear device detonating.
Offer them beer.

Realise that guests are arriving and in a panic throw food on barbeque even though flames are still 3 feet high.

Drink beer whilst prodding food with stick saying \"Just a couple of minutes\".

Notice that food is now indistinguishable from charcoal.
Realise why humanity has spent centuries trying to find a method of cooking that doesn\'t involve open flames and that offers a means of controlling temperature.

Drink beer.
Sneak into house and phone local take away to deliver a selection of burgers, chicken drumsticks and sausages.

Drink beer.
Pay for take away.
Burn delivered food just enough so that people think it\'s been \"flame grilled\".

Drink beer.
Swear to never do this again.

2 weeks later, the sun\'s out and someone suggests a barbeque.

Drink beer........

:D

Wait...

what was I supposed to drink there Rab?

@Drake - Yeah, the in-laws make them pretty regular, and I can\'t even tell you how good it is. With a good salad and (oddly enough) some milk, it\'s pretty much heaven.

its a ziploc bag. it easier to just have it in the bag and rub the skin off then trying to get it off any oher way. if you want a more detailed description of how its done ill have to ask my mom. she is much better at explaining things...i just do em :)
or grilled corn is good.

provoke_me --I\'ll do the peppers.

Rab -- should the peppers be sealed in the bag before or after being placed on the grill?...wait, it\'s all coming back now, think I\'ve been to one of your shindigs!....
