Nooo.. batteries can leak over time!
It\'s not a crazy idea at all but the contents inside a battery are corrosive so it\'s not really safe to use them for anything other than what they were designed for.

Have you got a razor saw? You\'ll probably need one to accurately cut materials. A pipe cutter is particularly useful if you have one kicking around; they are more accurate than a knife or saw.

yea im really glad i didnt use a battery there was so many reasons against it and apart from being probably more expensive than the putty in the first place it could\'ve turned quite dangerous lol. Also about the piping do you think a hacksaw and a file could work?

Thanks

Yes, it will cut through no problem. File off the end to smooth it.

I\'ve got a pipe cutter and while I wouldn\'t actually buy one for modeling (I\'ve used it only twice) it gives a straighter cut than you can achieve with a blade or saw.

home center. look for undersink piping.

hunting center, look for blank arrow shafts (carbon & fiberglass).

Get a fine blade on that hacksaw.

Knitting and crochet needles work well. The aluminum ones though, above about 3/8 inch are hollow tubing. For sci-fi stuff, some small lids from toothpaste and pen caps and such can work well.

Actually, wooden dowel rods are cheaper than plastic or metal tubing. They can be cut more easily than metal and shaped more easily than plastic. AND they\'re more widely available.

@Rex - Forgot those - yeah they are handy - the only thing is sealing them so that they accept paint and to disguise and wood grain/texture
