Basalisk Shells

I love my Basilisks but there\'s one major detail missing. Do you know what it is?.....

Yes, there\'s no sight of ammo or big shells that are meant to be loaded into the barrel. Important considering the compartment is open to the viewer.

Other than getting hold of a lathe and making my own. Does anyone know of a suitable fix? I was thinking of the tops of pens but that\'s just me being desperate and every geek and his dog will point that out.

Forgeworld do shells for the Basilisk & other large tanks.

too bad you\'re over there. I\'d pop down to the store and get a box of .22\'s. Bit of paint and some GS and we\'d have live ammo.

hmmm, basilisk is a big boy. maybe something larger?

got some toy ammo over there at all? Airsoft has some clips with plastic rounds in them. Get one out, make a rubber mold and cast away....

Tamyia and some of the other 1/35 scale manufacturers make shells that would probably work as well.

Have a look at your local model/hobby shop.

I know even the turned aluminum shells Tamyia turns out are going to probably be cheaper than the Forgeworld equivalents.

Trouble is some Jobsworth $%^£wit in the UK is already trying to get them banned as someone \"might make real bullets out of them\".

If thats the case, I\'m surprised ya\'ll can buy metal miniatures over there - I can think of hundreds of ways to make projectiles out of them.

As I said Jobsworths trying to look good.

Doesn\'t matter that any schoolchild in a Design and Technology class can turn a projectile on a metal lathe in a matter of minutes or make a Shiv on an angle grinder.

Let\'s face it most of us on here could make a projectile weapon from the spares and bit\'s & pieces we have in our modelling supplies.

I\'ve been making a lot of projectiles and such from knitting needles. Get them at thrift stores for about $1 for two. They\'re made of aluminum and so real easy to work and you don\'t need a lathe to turn out some real nice stuff.

Yeah, I\'ll check out Tamyas range tomorrow. I did look at Forge World, but can\'t be too sure that they are right for a Earth Shaker cannon and also Forge World tend to take an age to send stuff out (in my experience).

Ha, ha...I thought the same thing airhead. I remembered when I was in the cadets as a kid that .22 bullets make a good scaled down version of a cannon shell. That would sure clear out a Games Day event especially here in England.

FW used to do a replacement breech for the earthshaker cannon but it doesn\'t seem to be available separately any more. It came with a pallet of shells and an extra section to fit on the existing breech with an opening door.. When they were available I got three but I think I\'m using them all. You can see it on here.

They look cool and actually look like .22 bullets. I\'ll have to scan ebay for them or email FW to see if they can sell them seperately.

Actually, they look more like a .380

I\'d like to put a micrometer on one and see what brass to work from.

Well I might have found what you are looking for Here in Mission Models You\'ll have to search for Artillery Shells, but they are there.
