Hi, I did this over a few hours to show some beginners a quick and cheap way to base their minis.
1. I got an old mouse mat, cut out the size required, then spliced that into two (be careful when doing this).

2. glue onto standard base - you will have to seal the sponge with pva for it to stick.
3. When dry just paint up as usual. The grip pattern on the underside of the matt makes a great base for a Marine.
Apart from the grass there is no added sand or flock. You can see where the hole is on one side makea a rock on the other.
