Basic photography question

Is a 4-cm macro feature enough to take good pictures of a mini? I was thinking about getting a Nikon Coolpix 2100, so I\'d like to know if it\'d be a good choice

The nikon coolpix seems to be the camera of choice around here. (not the twist in the middle type though).

I recently picked up a CP-5000. A new model is out (5400 or 5700?) and the 5000 is being discontinued. They are going for about $300 on ebay. Not bad for 5 megapixels. (not that you need 5mps for posting here.)
