Basing Kits

Just trying to get more opinions...

Plastic Leaf Scatter
Would anyone be interested in using plastic (or resin) \"cast\" leaf scatter? The one major advantage to these is that they would ALWAYS be available through the store and not be \"out of season\". The one major drawback is that they would only have one useable side, the underside would be flat. Some other great advantages would be that they would come black in color, so you could paint them any color you wanted and then simply glue them down wherever. Another great advantage is that I could probably make them much more scale to 25mm-35mm uses as well as make varying types of shapes of leaves (IE, maple, oak, ivy, birch, etc.). This option would probably take me months to complete, but if it\'s something of interest to others I could definitely get to work on it.

Basing Item Decorations
Items?...yes, items. Like pumpkins, apples, oranges, flowers, beakers, vials, bottles, crates, cans, cups, skulls (psh...yes skulls!), tree stumps, vines, etc. These would also be cast in resin but I\'m not sure if I want to pre-paint them or just offer them as paintable objects cast in black or whatever color. Would anyone be interested in these types of things?

Basing Inserts
What\'s a base insert? it\'s an exact dimension insert for the standard round bases. The insert is basically glued or placed inside the \"display\" (perfectly round to fit) area of the base and can then be painted and/or decorated accordingly. There would be several options like metal plates, paved road, cobblestone, flagstone, fieldstone, wooden planks, rocky terrain, etc. They would all have flat spots to place miniatures on and would all come unpainted/undecorated. You would have 30mm, 40mm, and 50mm inserts to choose from. Of course I would need massive input as to what types of things you\'d like to see as inserts, but I\'m thinking if the inserts help inspire hobbyists to complete a nice looking base...the efforts are worth it. I mean really, if half the base is aleady done, wouldn\'t it be easier to tackle rather than starting from scratch? What do you guys think?

I know I would be interested in pretty much most of what you are thinking of offering. Saves time not having to do it myself. As for your question regarding painted versus unpainted......I would prefer to but unpainted so I could paint to my colour scheme. I wouldnt want to spend the extra cost on buying painted when I will probably re-paint them myself anyway.

Yeah but they\'re not available separately :p I\'m sure I\'m not the only one who has multiple types of sand, grass etc. but just want some good options for leaf scatter.

I do like how you have everything in that set though, from cork to glue to stir sticks. I just think having some smaller packages might be nice. Up to you obviously, it\'s your company!

I\'ve got to say I\'m impressed.

My only complaint is the shipping cost.

Is Canada considered International to you?

$25 for a basing kit is great, once you add $20 shipping, it\'s not so great a deal.

I also agree that it would be nice to get the stuff separately or in different lots. I would presonally like to see a folliage set, with all 4 seasons.

Thanks for the comments, I do agree with having individual packages and I will have them soon. I wanted to focus on bringing the product out before Christmas though, because they make excellent gifts. Once the new year turns, I\'ll likely open up a whole slew of individual basing suppilies you can pick and choose from.

Again, thank you. Yes, Canada is international to us yankees. For one basing kit, it would cost $15 for me to ship it to you, $20 for two basing kits, $25 for 3, and so on. I apologize for the international shipping, but I really have no control over it. UPS, FedEx, and DHL are all much more expensive. As for \"foliage\" kits, I\'ll work on something like that...it\'s a solid idea.

Thanks for the reply.

I had to ask as some retailers have a different rate for North America then for say Europe.

I will have to talk to some friends, if I can get some people to go in on some together we may place an order.

Definately a good idea breaking up the kits.
I have the bulk of the items listed with the kits in...well...bulk. but for the items I use more or that are harder to come by...I\'ve added you to my favorites, I\'ll be keeping an eye out for after the new year, especially the Cork if the price is right....LOL.

That\'s an excellent idea! you definitely save with larger orders...like I said, the shipping now days is just plain horrid, but it\'s a necessary evil for an online business.

I appreciate the nod. You won\'t have to wait too long for the individual basing materials...at least I hope not.
