Hi Guys,

Quick question for UK buyers. Where do you source your mini basing materials. I am after bricks and leaves. I've seen the stuff I want on here in the store but obviously would rather to avoid large postage if poss.

Any thoughts? Been looking on Ebay and general google search but happier going with a recommendation :)

Coolmini - I am more than happy to support your store if I cannot get what I want locally ;-)

Cheers

I've found that shops that stock model railroad/trains normally carry a wide variety (and usually less expensive than games stores) scenery/basing items. A quick google for model railroad/trains should turn up something close to you.

http://basecrafts.com/ Do a very nice range of basing items, their an online shop created by a member of Platoon Britannica, and they deal specifically in basing materials.

The other thing you can do is walk out the door and go for a stroll in a park etc and get it all for free. Thats what I've started to do these days. Got my sand / dirt for free, small rocks for free, and wood chips / bark for free too!

Leaves and scatter can be made using tea leaves and spices like oregano, which is readily available from tesco or similar shops. Alternatively you can find dried leaves and crumble them into small bits. Plinths can be made from going to B&Q and getting a long bit of timber and have it cut down to size for you there.

One length of timber cost me 10 pounds iirc and when cut up It gave me around 35 plinths / wooden blocks.

Hey guys, should the 1:72 scale bricks look OK with GW minis? Any experience before I buy appreciated. Cheers.

Places that sell things for fish tanks/aquariums are also quite good to look at, I've got a pot of small quartz gravel that was left over from doing one fishtank which is fantastic for basing. A lot of places will also have tubs of various bits of bog wood of various shapes and sizes that would wouldn't look out of place on a base.
