My Hurricane story...
I was in a Hurricane in 1981 in Hawaii, I was just a kid so I don\'t remember it\'s name, but it was a monster. I remember looking out my lanai (patio) window and seeing a cat go spinning through the air about 12 feet off the ground. It landed in a dumpster, the plastic kind. I ran out in my bare feet to help it out, but the dumpster started flying at me...it blew open and the cat came barreling out when it hit the ground and ran away. 9 lives no longer for the little guy that day. The High winds were unreal that day, all you could do was sit and watch it happen because obviously the power goes out, so no tv, no internet (not like we had it back then) no power...really scary. I hope that you Floridians stay safe, this guy looks really intimidating.

Thanks for the concern. Right now, I am at work (a triple wide trailer) where we are backing up computers and taking the hard drives out so we can take them home. If one of the 3 survive, we are OK.
Friday will be spent putting plywood over the double glass doors at my house.
Charlie was 20 miles wide hurricane force. This one is 70-80 miles out from the center (thats 150 miles across) for hurricane force winds... And it is moving much slower so you get pounded longer. (fun fun).
But still better than the tornados that I grew up with in the midwest.
As to better houses: Most stuff here is concrete block with roff trusses. Does pretty good. The retired folk like to live in \"manufactured\" houses. (that\'s trailers bolted to a foundation = crap) because they are cheap.
Don\'t fill all the trash cans full of water. Save one to put your photo albums/hard drives/important papers in then duct tape them up.
Got a swimming pool, so water to flush the loo with is not a problem. Currently, it is cleaner than city water, but after the storm... (shrug).
Back later, gotta get busy.

Batten down the hatches... my folks live in St. Augustine now. Dad said he was boarding up the windows again too. I was supposed to fly down tomorrow night for his Birthday on Saturday.
I think I\'ll be postponing that trip for now. Take care all, stay safe...

My Sister is on vacation in northwest Florida visiting her in-law and other family members, was planning to come home Saturday, but it looks like it’s going to be a wait and see if any planes even get out? Everyone be safe over there! that’s an order......:~(
