This is a great paint job. I watched it in the WIPS and was horrified when you wrecked one of the arms. Good to see that you fixed it.

Just got a question tho. What is it you took to make you paint so good. I see your early paint jobs from aug last year are at 6 - 6.5 and now less than 6 months later your painting a 9.

Not that Im jelous (I am I just didnt want to say it) but what ever it is I want some. You skills seem to have improved out of site. The NMM is awesome.

I think you will find that this site and more time spent on this mini has something to do with the rapid improvement.

Most excellent.
Deserves a better main photo though.

You are right. Sorry people I will probably have to repost this. I have only been able to snatch a few hours sleep between going up to the hospital and I didn\'t even notice how blurry the photo was. I will have to do it again.:(

Congratulations on your newborn! :)

And I agree with Mark, this deserves a better photo. The pics you showed in the WIP thread were much better.

I will comment more upon this when there\'s some better photos! :)

@Ogrebane laurence is partly right. This site has helped me imeasurably.
Just remember though that those first posts were painted after a 10 year break and I did paint for a few years before hand. Not that I could have painted this guy to this standard (and I still reckon I have heaps of room for improvement - truck loads).

The main things I did differently were thinning down my paints heaps and using future floor wax and drying retarder as well - especially on the metals. The time I took was way more than anything else I have done; that is in part because I am using new techniques I think rather than them being more complex. I assume (hope) I will get a bit faster.

I still think my biggest steps came after reading borgs article on painting Abaddon for a Golden Demon. He just goes so indepth on every step he took. It really opened my eyes as to the effort that is put into every piece of the figure (not that I have managed anywhere near that yet)

Plus I am way more patient than I was wen I was younger.

Plus I am choice!lol

The mind boggles as to how new born babies can be a painting technique.
Insomnia therapy, Nursing distraction. ??? ???
We await the article with bated breath.

As for the photo\'s I also think the WIP photos were better but I\'m glad my suggestion on Nail varnish remover helped your work on the sword.

lol. Funny how that seemed to make more sense at 3am in the morning.

On a serious note does anyone have suggestions on how I what I should be doing with my pictures to make it clearer? I am unsure on how to show the whole thing under 200kb. WIP pics were easy as I was just showing a small part at a time.

200k should get you a good pic. The ones I host externally go up to 300k and I browsed across one the other day that was 500k.

I hope you didnt think I was being picky about the pic. Its an awesome job and wouldnt deserve a 7 with a dozen \"blurry photo\" comments.

EDIT
What procedure do you use for pic editing.
I crop the photo to around the mini.
Edit it (white balance etc)
Then resize it to less than 600pixels wide.
Then save it using the jpeg optimiser/save for web. Using that means you can adjust the compression so the filesize is the lowest without losing too much image quality. If you are losing too much quality then go back to the pic and resize it smaller still.

Check out Spacemunkies photo editing thread in the forums for a more expert opinion.
