If you're able to grow it quickly, I'd trim it back to a goatee (perhaps a number 4) and see what happens. If you don't like it or attract no attention then you can always grow it back.

I'm able to grow a beard from nothing in a couple of weeks (at most), though never grown it as long as yours. Found at one point some women thought that having long facial hair clearly meant you didn't keep other parts of your anatomy tidy. I went to just a little soul patch and shaving a couple of times a week last year so that I could look tidy when I was best man at a mates wedding last September. Not sure if it's related by I started courting my young lady about 4 months after I did this.

The other half hates it when I'm clean shaven (apparently I have a grey face where my hair is quite dark) and prefers a bit of stubble. That said I'm also going (quite) grey so leave it too long and I start to look like a badger with patches of white amongst the black.

It does happen from time to time

Hmmm Mr Noneed, looks like I'm going to be teaching you something at GD...you're not the first person to make me speechless.....lets see if I can make YOU speechless >:p

You will just have to find another use fro my Tongue :p

I'm up early because it's a nice day so hopefully once I get the cleaning done I'll be off for a walk up at maiden castle and enjoy the sunshine.

Don't worry my man garden is well tended lol

I'm actually thinking of going clean shaven when I go to the states as I might have a new respectable job when I come back and don't fancy having facial tan lines if I shave it off after a couple of weeks in the sun.

a little way up? it's not even the next county!! wooky hole is closer to me than you! certainly closer to where i am from though - taunton

Not even the next county eh? I've been down on my luck lately, I'm thinking of growing a beard and commuting there from Canada for 60k pounds. Now that would be a commute, at least I'm on the east coast of Canada.

@mpj it's £60,000 pro rata and it's a part time position, so you won't actually earn £60,000. Otherwise I would have been tempted myself.

I had this wonderful habit of growing a beard spring time and then realising that when I wanted to shave it off I had a healthy complexion everywhere but under the beard so ended up far too hot during the summer months and then shaving it off for winter - yup I didn't have much common sense in my younger years!

Psychologically speaking a beard (or even a mustache) on deeper levels causes the viewer to trust the person less. It indicates that they have something to hide or are themselves concealing something.
The most politest answer I can give to that is rubbish!
