Ah, I think Ritual means that the Swedish government has a monopoly on the sale of alcoholic beverages within Sweden.

@ all -- if we\'re going to grade beers, how shall we do this? Some sort of scale (1-5 on color, smell, body, taste, etc) or a simple subjective (vurdering, wtf is that in english again?) assessment of the beer in question. Any thoughts?

i would recommend the system of tastings.com, a large site about alcoholic beverages like wine, tequila, beer etc that i visit frequently.
i reckon it might be a little too detailed but its pretty good. i buy most of my spirits based on what they say (and heck, the espolon anejo was certainly awesome )

As Marineboy said, we have a governmental monopoly on selling alcohol (stronger than 3.5 %). That, of course, has its disadvantages, but it also has a few good things. The company that distributes alcohol here is a huge company that can afford to keep hundreds and hundreds of different beers and wines and other goodies in stock. They also get good deals because of the quantities they buy, which helps keep the prices on an affordable level despite the high taxes on alcohol we have here.

an affordable level? lol i visited denmark once and if your prices are any similar to the danish prices its 2-3 times more expensive than in germany we had to bring 8 palets of beer with us, 6x5 cans in every pallet

true, but for some 19-23 year old kids ~1,50€ per can isnt even affordable
and we were SURE denmark had the euro as currency, we had no single crown when we arrived and everytime we changed the money, we had to pay a 5€ fee ... what a rippoff state

Checked out the price of Ratchet and Clank 2 Going Commando at EB GAmes\' Danish, Swedish , German and Dutch sites, the Danish price was waaaaay more than any of the others. A McDonalds\' burger costs more here than anywhere else in northern Europe. Buy one car, pay for three including state taxres and surcharges.

Too expensive to live here. And the weather sucks, too.

That\'s not bad, actually. When I\'m in a club I pay $6 a beer, that\'s just shy of 5€. Even in the store decent beer goes for at least a $1.50 a bottle, and that\'s still 1.25€. Of course, we could always drink cheap American beer out of a can, but I don\'t really enjoy the taste of camel Piss.
