Beginner seeking advice

Hello,

I'm about to place my first order. What the order will look like.....that's the advice I'm hoping to find.
First to my location. I live in Canada, thus would prefer online shops in Canada just to avoid ridicules shipping costs. Any links/suggestions?

All I know is that I tend to get Privateer Press paints. That's about all I know.
Can you recommend any "kits" like this? I certainly can create my own basket, but I'm afraid to buy the wrong colors for the miniatures I'll eventually order.

Also any links to good miniature painting sites are highly welcome.

And last but not least, if I'd buy a miniature painting tutorial kit (training dvd's) which one would you get?

Thank you very much!

Can't help you on the tutorial, but don't be scared to make your own paint set. Buy the basics first, and if there's money left in the budget, buy colors that you like.

A red, a blue, a yellow, a black, a white, a flesh color, and a brown should cover the basics. Maybe toss in a metallic silver and a metallic gold if you're not up to NMM. Then, maybe working in a shade of brown, a shade of green, some more flesh tones, and whatever catches your eye.

My advice would be to exhaust the free resources first, practice a lot based on what you've read and seen, then see if you think you need a DVD or the like.

This is already mentioned in one of the above threads but because this site is one of those free resources, just want to repeat here that it's valuable to learn how to search the forums successfully for information on any particular topic of interest. The best results will be obtained by using the Advanced Search, beyond that it's just a matter of picking your search terms and working through the returns.
