You are right - I shouldn\'t have assumed that you are a doctor based upon what you stated in your profile, any more than I should have assumed you are a monkey. Although a recent thread did point out out that there are some bright non-human primates out there...

You similarly should not have assumed that I am lacking in fortitude or that I \"curl up in a ball\" when confronted with tragedy. I don\'t. I grin and bear it, just as I\'m sure you do. If my dissatisfaction with the state of the world bubbles up in the form of a comment, what is wrong with that? At least my comments didn\'t blow up any innocent bystanders, even though they may offend a few people.

I personally feel that the world is not as nice a place to live in as it used to be, and the primary reason for that is the actions of mankind.

In the grand scheme of things I would rather have the person accused of taking a bit of cash on the side in charge of running the country as opposed to the people who\'s political and social ideals are still stuck in the 13th century and who\'s hobbies include marching through town screaming \"Death to the Kaffir\", lashing rape victims for being outside with a man other than her father or brother and cutting off the heads of kneeling prisoners with a two inch pen knife infront of a video camera.

And that, sadly, is often the \"choice\" the developing world has in leadership: the dictator who enforces law and order with blood, the demagogue who appeals to the poor and then runs a government based on nepotism and corruption (note: may turn into dictator), or the religious/cultural fanatics who promise \"reform\" again at the expense of liberty.

I read about her in Time (or was it Newsweek) back in October. She said there were attacks on her life and she even named the men who would be responsible. No one took her seriously.

I won\'t say she deserved it, but from what I gather, she wasn\'t exactly Snow White... ?

But sad news nevertheless that it could and did happen.

RIP

So you\'d rather have Musharraf in office then? At least some hope of change for the better did survive when she was alive. I don\'t have much hope with Musharraf in office to be quite frank.
