Ah, now this is a thread I like!
For Texas beers, you can\'t beat Shiner Bock. There was another brewery in Austin years ago that was great, but I think they went out of business. My favorite of theirs was Celis Pale Bock.
Fat Tire Ale is my favorite for season-round beer. However, all of the beers produced by New Belgium brewery are excellent, in my opinion.
German beers are great - my favorites would be Spaten Bock and Spaten Optimator. I also like Franziskaner (sp?) Hefe Weizen.
Samuel Adams Triple Bock is the nectar of the gods.
Used to be a fan of Belhaven Scottish Ale, but the last time I tried it, it wasn\'t as smooth. Changed their recipe maybe?

If you want to get blitzed, try any of the following: Rogue Old Crustacean Ale, Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine, Samischlaus, or John Hardy Ale.

That\'s enough for now. I used to collect the bottles of all the beers I sampled, but I stopped at around 350 as I ran out of space to display them...

I wasn\'t expecting such a response, good to see there are some people out there drinking more then B&B (Blue and Bud). Adding quite a few beers to my Wish list.
@TBS: Weihenstephaner Korbinian - picked up at a local LCBO (Liquor Store). The brewer\'s name is: Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan. I would have no clue where to get it over on your side of the pond. Here all alcohol goes through a government sponsored body and then is sold in only licensed stores. Needless to say the selection can be sporadic.Click for Ratebeer Entry
I also love mead. Best I ever had was first tried at a Renaissance Fest up by Toronto and was made by London Wineries (London Ontario). My wife and I loved it so much we actually looked up the Brewery and went there in order to get more. That year for the holidays we shared with all our friends and everyone loved it. Then the next year the Winery closed. We haven\'t found anything as good since. If anyone can recommend a good Mead that can be bought in Ontario I would love to give it a try.
@Einion: If were pimping beer sites, I\'ll toss Ratebeer out as well: www.ratebeer.com. A lot of complaints about snobbery and such on ratebeer, but still a great place to rate and keep track of what you have and have not tried. Includes place ratings as well, which I always check before heading out on vacation.
@Jahminis actually getting to go to Belgian and try Cask Trappist beer is one of my life goals. My tops 10 beers include more Belgian strong ales then anything else. Have to agree with you on American Micros as well. You here so many Canadians going on about how all American beer is watery swill, when in fact all they have tried is the huge macro brews like Coors and Bud (which are watery swill). Sierra Nevada makes some of the best beer I have ever had. I have a personal love for Great Lakes Brewery as well due to actually getting to visit the brewer and pub on a memorable trip to Cleveland.
@Steelcult: it\'s so sad to see great micro\'s begging bought up by the huge macrobreweres and being ruined. In the last few years we have seen a trend up North here where Sliemans buys up everyone and their brother and then either closes them down or reduces their selection to one or two generic lagers. I\'ll be missing Upper Canada Brewery for years to come. Sadly I just found out that my own hometowns only Brewery (Walkerville Brewery) is closing down.

I\'ll come clean - despite making many a reference to it in threads here I don\'t really enjoy drinking any more. I am fairly experienced in the ways of the booze and used to drink a lot, but I\'ve barely had a drop over the last year. Not a drop since the end of October except for what was in my Christmas pudding and brandy butter.
I didn\'t even intend to quit, just had a way too heavy night and horrible hangover one day, gave it a break for a while then realised that not only was I not missing it, but my taste buds had begun to revert to the state I think most folks have when they first start drinking, where booze actually tastes pretty bad and unusual, but you do it anyway because it\'s all grown up.
So for me, beer tastes pretty horrible now. I\'m sure I could make my taste buds tollerate then begin to like it once more, but at the moment I have no intention to.
It\'s kinda entertaining being the sober one on nights out too, you just have to get used to not being off your face in a group of people who are. Arguments and discussions are so easy to win and folks are so simple to wind up also, which is a bonus!
I used to quite enjoy Newcastle Brown though. A meaty beer!

I am a real sucker for most beers.
Really like the Belgian Beers, think I have tried that Delirium you mentioned and it was very nice. I always seem to end up drinking Duvel or Chimay because they sell them in the local supermarket
I do remember De Koninck and Tripel Karmeliet being very enjoyable.
Ales wise I like the random local beers they put on the guest tap in certain pubs, and then get mildly annoyed when a decent one gets taken off!

The best beer I ever had was in a biergarten in Germany. It was a Hefeweisen (sp?_) whose name I cannot recall. But even though it was a cold beer it tasted like biting into a warm loaf of homemade bread.:yes:

Where can you pick this up, I\'m just accross the bridge/tunnel and would love to try some Detroit Flavour. Closest I have had is the Bavarian in House beers from Frankenmuth for anything semi local from the States.
