best camera for under 500

I have a Nikon coolpix 5600 and I can\'t seem to take a decent mini pic with it. I am not sure but I don\'t think I can mess with a aperture on it or anything.

Do I need a better camera if so what do I need. The pics that I take are not showing my minis in the best light.

If it\'s buckaroos, I\'d get one of these (if I was buying a compact...)

Canon G9

It\'s a cracker for the money - probably the best compact out for that sort of cash at the moment.

You might also look at a DSLR like a Canon 400D or Nikon D40, although you\'d most likely need a macro lens to match or better the G9 out of the box.

mmmMMMmmmmm... 500 olympic swimming pools full of gold.

That would get you a nice macro setup... and a large photographic agency (like getty).
