BEST car i have ever driven

A 1970 MG BGT

This car is 41 years old and was an utter dream. 30 000 miles on the clock, thats less than my own scenic bought in 2006. Its my mums partners and asked me to buy for £3000. I am soooooo tempted right now!

Here are some pics to look at

PS James Bond theme tune was going through my head the whole time (i know it wasnt it any of the movies before some one starts!

Very nice! I'd definitely be tempted too. Cool as f**k, no road tax, cheap classic car insurance..... what's not to like Mr. Bond? :D

What is a road tax, and why doesn't this have one?

Sounds like the 'registration/license' fee we pay on new cars, which declines in price as the car ages.

Nice motor!

I'm no expert on cars by any means but I would think that if you bought it - kept it in at least the condition it's in now, you could probably sell it down the line for the same price. If it's a dream car - present that as your reasoning to the good lady wife and with luck she'll be cool with it!

i say go for it dude!

Another means for our government to remove money from our pockets.

Here's the link on how to calculate what you end up paying:

Simple isnt it.

Currently I've a 2009 registered Fiat Bravo Diesel which costs me £30 per annum, however A Land Rover Discovery can go up to £790 PA.
yeah it's nice having 30 a yr with my fiesta. tbh i have no probs with road tax. when you see silly buggers with their massive 4x4's or navarros which are bigger than anyone needs over here

nice looking car btw but gimme 4 doors, air con and an ipod dock any day

i've a supercharged range rover, however pre 2001 4x4's still pay "ye olde" road tax lol bout 180 a year, i'd spend more than that in petrol going to the shops. (maybe thats why the government was offering the 2000 for trade ins on ten year old motors, to fill in this particular loop hole lol)

I'm paying £425 for a 2006 Discovery 3 (or £405, can't remember which). It's due for renewal now :/

The cut off for road tax was changed from 2001 to 2006. If my disco had been 6 months older I'd have paid £180 too. More fool me lol.

@ Vikey, it's a tax that you have to pay to use public roads.

So do you all have to pay a yearly tax/fee for you car plates?

Oh, MoF Do it! Do it! Just me careful of how you drive. Just touching the gas petal gets you going 90mph! Not a good thing in town....

Yes "everyone" here pays road tax, unless your a wee scumbag dodging it. You cant get insurance without it ect. Mine was £205 for a 1.6 scenic, i might pinch cassars rover. At least it looks better than my daddy mobile!

Im also very comfortable sitting in the motoring version of my front room arm chair lol, (1) Sorry Its your car and I know you 'love it' but having been both a passenger and a driver of a Rangy I have to say it's the most uncomfortable car I've ever been in and that includes a Bond Bug.
