Just wondering what everyone likes to play as when not playing as a normal race. i\'m pretty partial to goblins myself. Nothing quiet like a goblin assassinlol. Any other cool combos out there?

Chaotic good Beholder has always sounded good to me.

And before you dis that out, just think about the opportinuties for real Role Play.

Trevor

Brushlicker and Freak!
A young teenage female silver/blue dragon, who didn\'t know she was a dragon and always stayed in human form, but had the strength and toughness of a dragon still.

Makes for some interesting roleplaying, running away screaming from enemies she could have squashed with one finger...

I allways wanted to play a centaur, or a fairy.
But both is not posible in DSA, cause centaurs are mentally unstable (crazy like hell) und fairys can\'t life outside fairyland (so, no adventures). I\'ll have to find a system, where I could play one of those.

That would make for some realy intersting roleplaying sessions.

With bard levels. There were two joke monsters in the classic three set \"All the World\'s Monsters\" editions that were based on a parody of a line from Gilbert and Sullivan, the good \"Wandering Minstrel Eye\" and the evil \"Wandering Monster Eye.\"

As for monsters I\'ve been in two campaigns that I enjoyed. One was a goblin/bugbear Birthright campaign that was very enjoyable. The other was at a local convention that involved a tribe of kobolds, but since the GM was a little lazy and didn\'t want to do all those size conversions, all the kobolds were oddly medium sized.

I like the idea of playing the dragon stuck in human form.

On thing that I have wanted to play is a Halfling Barbarian, with a size complex. It would make for some great gamming.

I\'ve played Minotaur fighters. They\'re my favourite race, pretty much.
My wife is partial to the Thri-kree or whatever those bug-folk are called.

Interesting

Interesting ones I have seen.

Ran a D&D 2nd ed where everyone had to pick a reace from the Humaoids Handbook. The goblin was great, an amazingly played Swanmay, a hilarious Lizardman, a Mongrelman just because, a pixie, and an Ogre. That was a good game, went on for a few weeks. It was interesting having a party that had to hide on the edge of civilization and had to actually scavenge or rob just to survive. Gave the players a new respect for some of the low level monsters out there.

Ran a Warhammer game where everyone played Orcs that was awesome.

Tanarukk! Half-demon, half-orc, all caibalistic party nightmares! Our group has a player in it who likes to play the anti-party charicters, so I decided to one up him and play a Tanarukk from the Races of Faerun book... I had eaten two bartenders and four of his companions that he had gotten through the Leadership feat within 7 sessions

Hmmm...oddest characters I\'ve played:

In a combo HERO system/WHFRP game I played an Ogre mercenary. He was a barrel of fun.

Currently in a D20 Modern/D&D hybrid I\'m playing a Minotaur warrior who has a fairied (NPC) following him around. He has the nastiest attacks! Whew!

I actually had an undead assassin in DSA which I never intended to play anymore. He basically was only reanimated to piss off the rest of the party who killed him in the first place and then left the body in the woods :D
He converted to the Praios cult (basically he Inquisition, in a more positive way) and agreed to die for real after some time. Of course, the players never learnt of his fate save for the two persons who actually cared about him (one of which would be sakura who reads it now ;)).

EDIT: Muahaha, when I posted, Todd\'s post was directly beneath mine :D I rule. We posted at nearly the same time. For some reason reason, that really makes me happy.

I just remembered!

IPM spent some time as a polar bear in one of my games, does that count?

Personally, though they\'re only marginally considered \"monsters\", my favorite non-standard character was a Half-Orc. 1st edition, with all it\'s screwy multi/dual classing rules, minimum prime requiste scores, level limits, etc, Coriakin was a cleric/fighter because he wanted to be a paladin but the rules (i.e. my DM) wouldn\'t let him.

We have a GM who HAS to put a fairie of some sort in every game he runs...

...EVERY game!

As things to put arrows/swords/fire spells into, right?

We actually tease him about that quite a bit, heaping torment on the poor things.

In the abovementioned modern D20 game where I played the minotaur, the NPC fairie is around 13th level (we\'re 8th),
and it\'s always getting into trouble and not getting much flak for it. One of the PCs shot at it once, rolling a natural 20! The GM wasn\'t too happy about that. She survived, having quite a few hit points.

But then when her friend, my PC, doesn\'t stand up for her, she threatens me and I make a grab attempt on her. Well, wouldn\'t you know it, her touch AC is not quite as good as her normal...lol

The session after that, I\'m sure her Escape Artist got quite a few extra ranks in it...;)

@Sakura:

Hackmaster, a synthesis of 1st and 2nd ed. AD&D, has pixie-fairies as character race. They have all sorts of cool abilities like flying silently, invisibility once a day and when the die, they can choose their mother for when they get reincarnated.

I had a half-ogre barbarian named Ugluk back when I was in high school. He rode around on the back of a subdued wooly rhino. It was tough at the lower levels being over seven feet tall and taking hits as a large target. The DM kept throwing guys with two-handed swords at me one night. 3-18HP per hit, Ouch! My favorite characters have always happened to be human, though. I guess I\'m just not all that imaginative:(

One of them, a thief named Otto, did get his mind switched with that of a minor devil because of a bad draw from the deck of many things. It was really fun acting lawful evil and not explaining anything to the other players. The Evil Otto wound up getting himself engaged to the Innkeeper\'s daughter and the Good Otto felt obligated to follow up on it once they switched back.

Is DSA Das Schwarze Auge? I have a mini for that.
