I don\'t know if it counts, but Ed Wood is a lovely portrayal of Bela Lugosi (sp?). It\'s HOW to be a vampire that he does so well. The way he does that thing with the hands lol

Thanks guys. I don\'t by any means like all the films I chose to include, I just wanted a good cross section from the genre, that might appeal to a wider audience, that each treated vamps fairly seriously. And for the record I might have included Salem\'s Lot had it been a movie... but it was made for television so it didn\'t count. Also I got the chance to see it again recently and, for me at least, it was better in recollection than in reality unfortunately.
I would also have included a film nobody has mentioned yet had there been room, The Hunger.
I would highly recommend the book, Vampire$, to anyone that thought the film was any good.

I have to say I thought this was pretty weak myself but I might need to see it a second time to give it a fair shake - after all it does have Jennifer Esposito and Jeri Ryan in it

Well I actually made a point of including a selection where they don\'t follow \'the rules\' - silver works/doesn\'t work; crosses work/don\'t work (and, in a nice twist, you have to believe that they work in one). Hell, in one vamps don\'t even have fangs!

I love Bram Stoker\'s Dracula, but I had to go with Near Dark on this one. Great movie.
Salem\'s Lot, the original, was a movie, not made for television. It was released in ... what? 1982 or so? Bombed in theatres.
The made for television one more recently was all right, but won\'t be added to my movie collection.
But nobody\'s mentioned Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Kristy Swanson as Buffy.
Pee-Wee Herman (Paul Reubens) as a vampire? How can you not like that?

Well, as a fan of the TV series, I can\'t honestly say the movie was good... But it was pretty funny at times. And it had Donald Sutherland and Rutger Hauer!

Nobody has mentioned the dodgy sci-fi vampire fest that was Lifeforce with the stunningly gorgeous (and almost perpetually naked) Mathilda May.
I also have a soft spot for Vamp with Grace Jones...

Interview with the Vampire!
Simply the best, despite the bad choice for that guy playing Lastat.
It captures the mood of the book well and the soundtrack is beautiful.

Of the ones listed (and I\'ve seen all of those and a lot more... vampires are definitely my \"thing\"), I had to select Near Dark.
I must admit a soft spot for most on that list, though.
Of those not on the list that others have mentioned, I love Vamp, The Hunger, and Fright Night for their sheer campy fun, and Bram Stoker\'s Dracula was the closes to the book of that particular story yet (though all that damn love story between D and Mina was utter crap--but Oldman rocked as Vlad).
When I want a \"real\" vampire movie, though, I go for the darker stuff like Nosferatu (original b/w and the color remake by Kinski).
For those not on the list or mentioned yet: the Subspecies series (after the first; that one was kind of a turd, but 2 and 3 were actually really good) are lots of fun, kind of campy kind of serious. A little b/w arty film called The Addiction was quite good, and had a short cameo of Christopher Walken as an elder vampire (how the hell can you beat that, I ask?). Pale Blood was another kind of campy but fun one that is really hard to find.
Over all, though, I think my absolute, all-time favorite vampire flick would be ... too hard to decide!
