The GW stuff is just varnish. Dont buy it. You have to pour it in a bunch of really thin layers.

I heard woodland scenics is ok, but it\'s basically like a plastic you have to melt and pour, if I recall correctly.

The only water effects I really like is a two part resin that I found in the floral section of my local craft store. It\'s intended for putting in vases of fake flowers to look like real water. I forget the name of it, but it will come to me in a while.

I have a scenery piece that has this water effects, I will upload a picture in just a moment.

EDIT: The stuff is called \"Everlasting Elegance\", and I bought it at a michaels craft store. You can see it here: http://www.michaels.com/art/online/displayProductPage?productNum=fl0010&channelid=

Here are some pictures of my terrain piece that used this, as promised! :)

only problem with that everlasting elegance stuff is that they say you have to buy it from the store. being in the uk means that this is not an option for diddy.

regarding the woodland scenics stuff. you can buy their \'realistic water\' i think it\'s called. its the consistency of thick pva. the only problem with it is that it needs to be done in thin (ish) layers and it is thick so you can\'t get a really good edge liek you did in your example. btw did you use an ink to stain it?

the woodland scenics stuff you can buy in the military bookshop in the royal arcade (one of the ones between st marys street and the hayes - near the prince of wales pub). they have a good range of woodland scenics stuff (and vallejo). i have used yacht varnish in the past though as it has a slightly bron tinge and is super strong

Nope, no ink. I just painted the pond bed a green color first before pouring it in. I have colored this stuff with ink before and it turned out fine.
