Can anyone give me any ideas as to where to start on this?

I think you\'ve got it...

Basically, I think you\'ve pretty much got it.

If you have a nice lightly colored sand as our basing material, I would glue in down, then \'wash\' it with a brownish-yellow ochre color. Lightly drybrushing with progressive lighter shades of ivory.

now if you want to paint a DESSERT base, I\'d start with whipped cream, and some sort of fluffy cake.lollol

I do my High Elf bases with chaos black, graveyard earth, desert yellow, bleached bone. It\'s a sort of all round light base that could go for desert, or, with some static grass, as light earth.
