big bust

you dirty buggers -what were you thinking?!

i mean bust in the modelling sense here. i am nearly done with a hellboy bust i starting sculpting yonks ago. i have hit a wall though. i don\'t know what to do with the base. ideally, i want to get my hands on something like this

does anyone know where you can get these from? preferably in the uk. thanks in advance

The bottom looks like a good base thrown to the termites and the gray piece looks like a chess queen up his a$$. Or if he had an a.....

Looks like stuff you could get from a home gardening center, to me.

The base looks like a piece of Burl Walnut tuned irregularly. As for the stand that could also be just an easily turned piece of wood painted up.

I saw bases like that at the Lugdunum Open in February made by an italian dealer. Do you want me to ask my LGS, that knows the guy, to try and get one for you?

By the way, I\'m talking about the gnarled base. The high regular one comes with the Dirz bust.

it\'s not the gnarled walnut base that i\'m on about, its the plastic plynth. just something to stick him on top of. i don\'t really want to buy one those busts just for the plastic stand. most busts come with them (or something similar) but i have never seen them sold separately

that hellboy is looking good. orb\'s question is a good one, how big is it? if its large enough there should be a good number of fixtures at a hardware store that would work. banester ends or fancy wood pegs would do well with some modification.

hes 11cm wide by 5cm deep. and 9cm from the end of his coat to the top of his \'horns\'.

thanks orb but i\'d rather buy a couple as i also have one of these and he has no stand either. bit of a pain in the arse really. also i\'d like to try some more busts in the future so i\'d like to grab a few if i can

If you have any friends who can do wood turning, sketch a profile of what you want; I had a resin one from a Post Militaire bust I had and a friend used that as a guide. Didn\'t take him long to do

i have decided to just have the tank commader on a metal rod drilled into a base. still haven\'t found anything for the hell boy though. i\'m gonna keep searching ebay
