Biggest events of the year so far?

So the year is half over now. I like to reflect from time to time on what has gone on and see if I can plan the next steps. So what I\'m asking now is what are the biggest events of this year for you so far?

A few things for me........I told Mr C is wanted a divorce after a lot of soul searching (a good thing actually). I went to London. My son is employed and doing very well in school for the first time. All in all a very stressful 6 months but a good one. We\'ll see where it leads.

How about you? What are the biggest events for you so far this year?

My best friend whom I have known since I was 3 years old is moving to the USA next month. I\'m really bummed about that. Going to miss the son of a bitch and his bonkers wife - great people.

Also...

My previous contract ended on the 1st of April and I was planning on taking the summer off but have spooged a load of money on \"stuff\". The root cause is going from £470 a day to £0 a day is painful!

And...

While I am a fairly active person, I used to be REALLY active and did Shotokan Karate for 16 years... I stopped about 8 years ago and started doing the girls/beer/smoking thing... I quit smoking 2 years ago and restarted Karate in January. They dumped me back in at 3rd Dan and it\'s killing me... a major shock to the system still.

3 big events for me.

My second niece was born, Ashleigh Gillett.

A spark of light in the darkness she is, a reminder on how much a i could have missed if i had died in the car crash i was in which leads to the next big moment.... the one year anniversary for it and being physically near full health (or as full as i can get)

Lastly will be a week on wednesday when i do my first live performance as a musician.

Hopefully more throughout the year :D

Everything was ticking over slowly but surely then out of the the blue the choice to pack up everything and move up to Spain occurred over the space of 11hrs. (The Dilemma thread...)

Flight is on the 30th... :bouncy:

Yea, still under with that, 8th bloody day now. Though it is easing up managed to get dressed and go for a short walk today, I\'l hopefully be fine by tomorrow.
I wasn\'t fussed about making sacrifices to the porcelain God, it was the pains that went with it, ended up in hospital the other night due to them and the Doctor pretty much said I had wasted the ambulances time as there was nothing they could do, so I ended up going back home...with the pain. :cussing:

Last year was a much better year. I don\'t think anything will top our daughter being born for quite some time. So far this year has sucked:

My Gazebo blew away into the neighbours yard and had to be dismantled, spent three days building up a new one and making sure it would be secured, that baby better not move, I\'m still sore from all the work.

The auto industry locally is going to crap, and that\'s bad for a town built by the Big 3. We\'re up to 18% unemployment here. Thankfully I still have a job, though due to cut backs in OT and hours, even though I have received significant pay increases in the time, I will make less this year then the last 5 years.

My wife got totaly f\'ed over by her (previous) employeer when she tried to go back to work from Maternity leave. We are now a one income family again and out over $3000, (which with the Daughter and the Work situation above really sucks).

AKA not a good year.

Grandfather passed. Grandmother of my ex-wife passed. My last grandmother diagnosed with fatal lung cancer. Plans to move closer to my kids has been put on hold indefinitely....

Waiting for the good...

Well, you\'ve already heard about my financial distress making me sell my
mini collection. But I continue to paint commissions, which helps the finances.
Outside of that, my father\'s health is failing, but this is age, and no surprise.
He\'s led a good life, and I\'m glad to be able to say that we reconciled our
differences well before the diagnoses were made.

I picked up my guitar after almost 5 years of not touching it, and happily found that
I can still almost play. Which is as good as I ever got, so I\'m pleased.

On the whole, money matters aside, I\'m good.

Highlight so far was a 10 year class reunion - it was a blast catching up with old friends.

The successful Mars Phoenix landing was really cool!

Otherwise this year has been fairly low key.....so far.

Some highlights were:

Getting more serious about my art (aside from mini painting). Oil painting in particular. I have done some digital painting too.

Working a lot with my guitars. I have been writing some classical tunes, as well as a little bit of blues and rock. I have been dipping in a few styles just to see what direction I want to take.

Got my first scratchbuilt demon entry nearly finished. I have sculpted things before, but this one is a milestone for me.

Most of my big move has had its impact over the last 6 months...

I\'ve done terrible in math and chemistry at my new school, and may have to repeat both depending on my exam results :( On the positive front, I went from not bothering in English to being in the top three for term three in my grade.

Socially, I\'m doing a hell of a lot better than even two months back. It\'s a beautiful situation when one can have friends and a hobby. :)

Musically, this past six months have been extremely prolific, I\'ve been writing and improving on guitar and singing and (slowly) learning keyboard.

And the most relevant highlight: Pretty sure I have the best chance yet to finally snatch a demon at GD Canada, but we shall see. And then there\'s World Expo. . . ;)

Erm…The last few months have been crazy.

Good news:
I thought I was going blind and found out I am ok.

My wife’s cousin got her lung transplant in the nick of time. She is doing fine. They finally took the tubes out. Her two kids and her husband are ecstatic.

My wife got a side job writing a restaurant review column for a site that caters to foreigner here in Korea.

Bad news:

My short story idea didn’t get selected by the Black Library.

My wife’s aunt was just given a week and a half to live. She had cancer of the bladder. The cancer was very aggressive and spread to her live, lungs, bones, and brain. I just got the news this morning.

Sorry to hear about your wife\'s aunt, EB, but happy to hear about the cousin. I remember when you told us about that she needed a transplant.

had a 50p sized hole cut in the base of my skull to have corrective surgery to stop bleeds I had been having in my brain....Then went back in to have the corrective surgery corrected as the bugger didn\'t want to stop bleeding... The good news is I actually managed to see my own brain..which was weird but a relief to know it was there..

Bad news on the family front with a few deaths and near deaths but moving on...

My 3 year old started a new nursery finally after been passed for nearly a year due to non english speaking youngsters getting priority in pre school to prepare for full school.

Little one caught his first fish...well 5 actually and he loved it... I cried......wuss

took my golf handicap down to 9 ..woo hoo.

Bad news on the wifes aunt EB....thoughts with y\'all.........

working in Iraq for 3 months as graphic designer for MOD.. working 7 days a week and last 3 weeks 20 hrs a day.. thats when I was not lying on floor under desk waiting for the all clear..but hell of an experience..
