Biker bases in 40k

Okay, here\'s a dumb ass question for you all.....

I got some really awesome bases from Dragon Forge for 40k bikes. I don\'t like the idea and don\'t want to paint a bike for 40k.

Are there any other models that go on a biker base? Could you legally mount something like the Master of the Ravenwing, a Space Marine speeder, or Deffkopta\'s and stuff on a biker base?

Thanks to anyone for help.

Love,

Scott

If you\'re talking about the elliptical ones: legally, no. Everything you named is classed as Skimmers or Jetbikes, which require flying bases (Especially Jetbikes, since their base dimensions are important for Close Combat handling.
So, apart from Space Marine or Ork bikes... dunno. Dark Eldar Warpbeasts (fugly models, btw) and Imperial Guard cavalry used to come on 50x25 cavalry bases, so you might try that. On the other hand, Forgeworld does make some 40k cavalry (Death Korps), and they seem to have gone 40mm round bases now. Seems you\'re outta luck.

The rulebook does not, however, forbid you from using different-sized bases; instead you have to inform your opponent about it (and pray for acceptance), since gameplay might change. (Except that for skimmer type vehicles, you\'ll still need to mount that model on a kind of rod the size of a flying base one) Overall, I don\'t see it getting just glossed over on tourneys and the like.

Best bet: man up and paint a bike. :]

Sigh... fine.

I picked up the biker Marine Chaplain. Not that big a fan of the dudes face so I may swap his face. Like Travolta and Nick Cage!

As the rules go you aren\'t supposed to mount anything on a base smaller than that supplied with the model but you can use a larger one as it confers no advantages. If you got the weedy little bases like the ones that come with the scout bikes then you wouldn\'t want to base any f those models you mentioned on them anyway as they\'d just fall over. If however you have the manly big-ass bike bases that measure about 40mmx80mm or so then you can mount any of those things on them as the base area is larger than a flying base.

I don\'t care about the rules as I play with people who are not nitpicky so I used those for some of the characters that have sidekick (i.e. ork w/ squig).

I\'m with you Gussy but I was looking to paint something for eBay, so it\'s gotta be legal to get the most eyes looking I think.

??? BAH! My land speeder doesn\'t have a base so why would a cavalry base mean much different to use?

Also Master of the Ravenwing comes with either a speeder or a bike....unless they changed it recently.
