Bilbo Baggins **UPDATE**

Bilbo

He\'s not been approved, but the link and voting should still work, no?

I\'ve been falling behind alot of people on the forums in terms of my mini postings, so I thought I should post this as quickly as possible. I was preparing for a long wait until I could take pictures, but decided to risk the humidity and cold, and dullcoted him. Unfortunately, even the mighty testors fell to the awesome power of the elements, and Bilbo was reduced to a horribly shiny mess. As I said in another thread, the last time I was able to get optimum conditions where the dullcote worked like it should was in August. :D I went out and bought some brush-on, and lo and behold, it worked like a miracle, which is why you see Bilbo in front of you. In front of you, that is, if you clicked on the link. If he\'s not, then you know what to do! Comments appreciated very much!

A very nice and smooth rendition of the Bilbo figure. Maybe just a touch more contrast in the face.

Those models are so tiny.. I\'ve just started to paint Gandalf the white

very nice...

This guy is tiny. I love the clothing, hair, and face. I think maybe though the blacklining from the hair to the face is a bit severe.

Thanks, guys...

Supervike, I think you might be right, I had gotten used to blacklining heavily on the wolfen, and I liked the effect, but I suppose it\'s a bit harsh on something this small...

Avelorn, I\'m still struggling with smoothness vs. contrast...I try to compromise, but if I have to go for one or the other, I usually go for smooth unless it\'s armour. :)

This one is great. Very smooth blending, but the blacklining is a little heavy. This is just my opinion, but the base doesn\'t match the quality of the paintjob IMHO. I like the water though, and I could just be stupid, so I am just giving my opinion. I think you have a good shot at winning a demon with this one, so good luck if you can make it.

Mantis Assassin up

Just thought I\'d let you guys know that I\'ve FINALLY got a good picture of the Mantis Assassin after tens of pictures and at least five reposts, once again thanks to testors brush-on dulcote.

I like how the red highlights on Bilbo\'s vest move up towards white without actually becoming too pinkish. What\'d you use to blend up there?

Thanks for the comments guys, and Kep, the shirt was scab red highlighted with vallejo model colour vermillion and white....Vermillion is a bit lighter than blood red, being slightly pinkish and slightly orangeish, which makes for a nice mix when you start adding white to it. :)
