Bilbo baggins (why make models this small -.- )

lol ok,, other than the pain in teh a*5e size. it really is a lovely model. So ive just start painting one. The face is nearly finished, i plan to add some colors ( i think nuances is the right word) to areas such as the lips, cheeks andaround the eyes. although im not sure what colours to add??? little help plz.

also i plan to light source the figure from the ring (so an orangey yellow glow).

other than the face,,everything else is just base coated.

all comments and criticisms welcome (please dont hold back)

lol,,,ok, in terms of scale,,,he is shorter than the diameter of a 25mm base

(the eyes,,,,were,,,,almost impossible)

He is about snotling size, that looks like the lid of a gw paint pot that he\'s stuck to. He\'s also mounted on a standard 25mm round GW base (40k size)

i know this is an odd question,,,but how brightly do you think the ring would shine? enough to illuminate just his hand and part of his jacket,,,,,,or enough to reach his face too?

im thinking just his hand and a little further,,, not too sure though.

I don\'t thing that the light should reach his face either..

U would actually glaze down his forhead so that his rinkles aren\'t that visable. just toning it down a bit

other than that it looks great a very small miniature indeed

As far as where the light reaches it would depend on the enviornment he is in. If its dark it would penetrate more, if its lighter of course, less. I agree though if it reaches the face at all, just the chin.

Not quite as small as a snotling. In 40k terms he\'s ratling sized, but then of course ratlings are the 40k halflings anyway.

It looks very promising. An excellent start.

He\'s waaaaay smaller than a ratling.

Try giving it a faint glow as if it was only reflecting the flames that made it rather than creating it\'s own light. Definately not as far as his face as it would mean underlighting it and destroying the lovely job you\'ve already done.

BTW ratlings heads and hands are the same size as inquisitor scale minis

Looking great, the coat is probably the most impressive part so far. Really like the attention to detail on such a teenie figure... I have one too but I have a hard time painting things this small. I just get frustrated

hey guys, just a little update.

i hadn\'t really planned on entering GDUK this year as i didnt have any serious entries, but i entered bilbo into LOTR single for the heck of it and luckily made it through first cut and to the judging table was well chuffed. I\'ll try and get some decent pics of the final model up soon
