I had a similar thing when I was walking down a mate\'s road and a bloke ran off with his car radio. If I\'d reacted faster I could\'ve easily run after him or at least tripped him up, but it was too much of a surprise. I made sure to note the time and place and what the guy looked like, but in the end I didn\'t need to make a statement because my friend\'s dad had seen him.

Good to here you had a good officer working with your statement. My dealing with police has USUALLY been positive as well.

If you may have to recall it later then write down everything you can remember now, then sign and date it. Be as thorough as you can, don\'t worry if it\'s written all pretty like, even a bunch of bullet notes works fine.

Also remember, no stuff is worth risking your neck over... EVER.

One of my instructors (ex-marine gunny sgt. teaching home defense) said point blank:

If I came across someone carrying my plasma TV out of the house I\'d lock the door behind him and wish him well.

If I let him go, I have to fill out a police report and an insurance claim. And I\'ll be without a TV for a while.

If I shoot him, I have to fill out lots of police reports, get a lawyer and he\'d still drop and break my TV, so I\'d still be without a TV.

Not worth it.

Now, if he turned around and came back....

Check the medicine cabinets and see if makeup was all they got.... If so, I bet they though that large box held something else (computer?)

That was all the nicked, turned out they didnt manage to get any further than an inside door which was locked, so they took the box and did a runner..
