Black Legion 1500pt list - Need help

I am looking to make a 1500pt Black Legion Army list, I dont want the fairly cheesey winged demon prince mark of Slannesh etc.

I am looking to create an all round army that can do most things and I want to play the Chaos Marines strength of CC and close range fire.

What I have worke out so far -

Chaos Lord – Terminator Armour
Power Wpn
Combi-Bolter
Mark of Khorne 130

4 x Chaos Terminators – 2x Power Fist
2x Power Wpn
Heavy Flamer
2x Combi-Bolter
1xCombi-Flamer
Terminator Champion
Chaos Glory 175
Land Raider – Extra Armour
Twin Linked Bolter 240

10x Khorne Beserkers
Skull Champion – Power Weapon
Rhino – Extra Armour
Twin Linked Bolter 285

10x Chaos Marines with CCW
Meltagun
Flamer
Champion – Power Fist
Rhino – Extra Armour
Twin Linked Bolter 260

10x Chaos Marines
Plasma
Missile Launcher
Champion – Power Weapon
Rhino – Extra Armour
Twin Linked Bolter 260

2x Obliterators 150

1500

Some advice would be real helpful.

I am not sure on the champ in the Terminator unit or the mass amount of Extra Armour I have bought on the Rhinos, might swap those for some chaos marks on the units.

Don\'t forget that all your basic CSM squads come with both bolters and ccw&pistol as standard. That ought to allow you to pump out a bit of covering fire before following the Berserkers in.

The only thing I\'d really recommend is to drop the obliterators. Firstly I personally don\'t rate them as I\'ve never ever seen them make up their points in casualties inflicted. Secondly they\'re a bit slow so unless you teleport them in (wasting at least a turns firepower) you\'ll find they get left at the back where their fire lanes are obstructed by your own troops and leaving them vulnerable to being picked off by enemy infiltrators or fast moving assault troops.

Instead I\'d consider a daemonbomb. People tend to whinge about Daemons not being as good now that they aren\'t God specific anymore. I used to be one of them until I actually tried using some. They can be an extremely nasty surprise for your opponent when you plop them out next to one of your units that\'s just about to assault. Unlike most deep-strikers they can charge on the turn they appear so you can get stuck in straight away. Another great thing about them is that they count as troops so you can use them to snaffle objectives if they pop up in the later stages of the game.

If you drop the extra armour you ought to be able to afford quite a reasonable sized unit of them, or possibly go for less and buy some marks for your units.

Do NOT drop the obliterators, in my opinion. Treat each as a single unit so they can deep srtike in on different targets/requirements. I\'ve never once been sorry I took oblits.

List looks good other than that. We won\'t discuss daemon configs as you stated you didn\'t want to run one.

I\'m putting together Deathguard/Black Legion at present. Got some old school lead chaos termies off eBay, they\'re waiting for paint. =)

Anywhere you could fit raptors into your list? Could they infact replace the zerkers?

If you\'re looking at tough models for short-range firefights, I would suggest Plague Marines. I don\'t know how you\'d fit them in, but their Feel No Pain rule makes them harder than heck to take an objective from, and (I seem to recall) you get to give them more special weapons than normal too. Two plasma guns put out a lot of hurt at close range, and I believe that the FNP save can be taken against wounds caused by overheating.

correct on the FNP - it works for any wound taken, doesn\'t matter from what.

yes, my plague marines are a staple choice. 7 man sqauds with 2 plasma guns and a champion with power fist. they really fish the pain, especially dropping out a rhino and rapid firing before advancing to contact.

Actually, someone corrected me on this recently. AP 1 or 2 weapons ignore the FNP save. But I think an overheating plasma gun, since it allows an armor save, doesn\'t count as AP 2 like normal.

How good are Plague marines in close combat? I don\'t know how they compare to the Berserkers in the OP.
