bad things about BL is sometimes a few pages or one page wont be printed so well. beside that its all good. lots of fun fluff and junk. if you want to borrow the eisenhorn triligoy i can send em to you...as long as you will send them back.

i just read one of the ciaphis cain novels. pretty good. saldy i dont know if it was the first one or not.
oh wells. if youve read all the eisenhorn try ravenor. its Eisenhorns apprentice...if thats the right word.
hmmm. i havent read many others. took me a while to get thru the Tanith ghosts and esenhorn. now i await ravener 2
oh another book by him is Double Eagle. its about the imperial Navy...which i really the airforce...anywho

Yeah, i read one about Ragnar Blackmain and his rise through the Space Wolves and killing some big Thousand Sons HQ type guy. Can\'t remember the title and don\'t see it up on the shelf, so it\'s probably in the chest. i\'ll go look for it in the morning. Full of vivid scenes. If you read one, you better have plenty or free time, \'cause you\'ll come out of it with a million and three ideas for diaromas

@ provoke_me - ciaphas cain novels are good. don\'t remember the name of the first one but caves of ice is the second.
and anything by dan abnett is top. all the eisenhorn and gaunt\'s ghosts novels. oh, and ravenor is great even by his standards. and theres a new one coming out soon - yay!!!

I personally got roped into Felix and Gotrek.. but after a while I notice an underlinging premise: before they go and kill any big monstie, Gotrek will get drunk and Felix gets laid.. then the girl is amazed he comes back. \"I only slept with you because I thought you were going to die!\"

I\'ve been wanting to ask a similar question myself, I would also like reccomendations (I would ask people to post books that they DIDN\'T like as well as the ones they did, so I can get a better idea).
DIDN\'T LIKE
Ragnar series - boring, and not well written imo (didn\'t bother with the third one). That\'s why I\'ll probably not read the Gotrek series either.
Ghostmaker - second of the Gaunt novels. Series of shorts, all pretty dull.
DID LIKE
First and only / Necropolis. Both good. Necropolis had some bad bits (the entire Vorlin plotline seemed like just a means to an end, and the way gaunt survived was rediculous. Overall though, very good). I have a couple more Gaunt books, haven\'t read em yet.
Eisenhorn Trilogy - Awesome. Xenos got a bit crappy at the end, but overall great. Malleus in particular was a great read.
Storm of Iron - despite the crapiness of McNiels Uriel Ventris / UM novels, SOI was an excellent book.
Daemon World - I plan on getting Ben Counter\'s \"Soul Drinker\" novels, because DW is without a shadow of a doubt BEST BL NOVEL EVER.

I agree with most of the suggestions, but to add my 2p on Caiaphas Cain:
I don\'t like the books. A huge disappointment after the excellent Inferno! stories, I feel. Too many cliches and too many places where he says \'if only I knew what horrible thing was going to happen next\' and \'despite being a coward, I thought I\'d keep up appearances by volunteering for the most dangerous mission\'.
In other words, predictable and lacking much sense.

I did like Drachenfels.. but I think being an actor and reading it off stage made it spookier.. I always wanted to buy Silver Nails/ Geniveive but I never got around to it..
One thing though: I belive we all agree never to go near the Inquisitor Draco books ever! I would burn my two copies, if I didn\'t think the filth from the smoke would choke me!

I highly recommend the entire Felix and Gotrek series.
They are very \'light\', almost all action, and quite fun. They plot lines were non-existant at first, just all action, but they developed more and more as the series continued. There is also a good bit of humor in the books.
Space Wolf is another great read, especially to someone (like me) who isn\'t very steeped in 40k history.

I\'ve got started on this now... Humour in BL books. Sometimes it\'s all right, but it gets very annoying and intrusive the rest of the time. Especially when 99% of it is so tongue in cheek that the writers are in danger of punching themselves a second pie-hole. Pulls you right out of the story you\'re trying to immerse in.
I should also say that I read a lot of Science papers for work, so when I read for fun I tend to like something \"light\" and easy to read.
Doesn\'t mean I want something crap, just something I don\'t have to think about that rips along at a fair pace. I don\'t even mind it being predictable as long as its not boring (does that make sense?), thats why I like Dans work, good, fast paced action stories.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Eisenhorn trilogy and I even enjoyed the Cain novels, For the Emperor being the first.
That said, I would recommend DarkAngels only to enemies and people who annoy me.
I would also recommend the first Daemonifuge graphic novel. They later changed artists and that was disappointing.
I am halfway through Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, and so far it has been pretty good.
And then, I could always recommend Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein, Enders Game by Orson Scott Card, and the first three Foundation novels by Isaac Asimov.
That said, I would recommend DarkAngels only to enemies and people who annoy me.
