Black Skin ?

Hey, I\'m currently painting a mini where his skin is black... but how far do I highlight ? I\'ve highlighted about 5 times with a mix of Chaos Black and Fortress Grey to a dark grey, but I\'m wondering if it\'s enough... or if I should go brighter...

But brigher might make it look not so black anymore... :(

Help!

I\'m quite surpised you\'re using grey. Are you painting a drow?

For more natural tones, have a read here :

Sort of ;) Elf family yes, hence the grey.. I\'ll check out that article :D Thanks GS
?EDIT: Good article, miss a bit of mini examples.. but anyways I didn\'t mean black as latino, I mean black as drow, sorry for the confusion :D

Anyone got some other thoughts

Use a combination of Dark Brown, Purple & Grey.
YOu\'ll have to work out the ratios to suit yourself. I\'d suggest a test piece of Plasticard with both White & Black primer to see what you are most happy with.

You got any examples...?

If you\'re worried about it being too highlighted, shove some black wash over it :)

COLOUR-wise that\'s up to you, but with doing skin it depends how you want it to turn out - if you want the skin to look leathery then keep the colours earthy and don\'t worry so much about streaks or brushmarks - they add to the effect.

But if you want the skin smooth and silken, then blend blend blend!

smooth and silky, and it worked, I just kept going adding a bit more fortress grey to my mix and highlighting, till I hit the point where you can see the muscles but still see it as black skin :D
