Black Templar - Emperor\'s Champion

I thought that I had already started a thread for this fella -- but I went through my started threads and didn\'t see anything. Admins, if I\'m just blind... sorry.

This is the first update on the Emperor\'s Champion for my 750 point BT army. I\'ll get around to updating the army blog eventually... but this is all I\'ve done in quite awhile.

I plan on doing some sort of mural/scene on the tabard which is why it\'s simply a chalky white at the moment. I would love some suggestions. It\'s a wee tiny thing and I keep thinking too big.

Feedback would be wonderful. I\'m pleased so far and enjoy working on this guy when I can. Of course if I put too much work in to him I\'ll never get him on the table. Not to mention he\'ll outshine the Marshal -- and we can\'t have that.

Hey really like this guy, think the checkers [if thats the right term) works very good combined with the shield on his chest. Your parchments are really good as well. I do think that the gold trim on the shoulderpad is a little to bright, maybe as wash or two to darken it a little. As for the tabard you could do something like the holy cup/chalice (or however that\'s spelled), a sword with rays of lights, a lion, anything with a little symbolic christian meaning would work i think - know it\'s not strictly BT, but I don\'t think that people would notice, the good old play with the subconscience sceme.

Did you ever finish your dread or did I just miss the thread?

Have to agree, I don\'t particularly care for the checks on a Space Marine, particularly an Emp\'s Champ.

But, if you\'re not worried about \'fluff\', etc, at least they\'re done well.

Except for, you know, the Black Templar with their black and white panopoly...

I did think about leaving it off for that very reason. My Marshal, however, has checks on one of his knees so I kept it with the theme.

Just about finished on this guy finally. I\'ll clean him up and get some decent photos in the light tent -- otherwise I\'d love some final feedback.

Sigismunds original heraldry was black and white checks, before he left the imperial fists and founded the black templars, so technically its right.

But the templars themselves dont use checks.

I think he looks really dark and sinister, you have made some great stuff here. It doesn\'t look like the helmet is highlighted like the rest but I take it it\'s just the foto

I set up the light box today and got some better photos of this bad boy. I\'m hoping that this will prompt some additional feedback. I also did a spot of clean-up but nothing drastic.

Once the Reclusiarch is based I\'ll be able to get started on my squads. I\'m hoping that the techniques I picked up on the three command models will translate well in to semi-speed painting for the squads.

gorgeous!! its a very unique and inexpensive champion. I LIKE IT!!. the only things i would change are the yellow in the lantern needs a contrasting color like a burnt orange(burnt?) cause in the pics you cant see it very well. ....ummm and i would outline the templar insignia on the left knee in red. just me.

Really really cool Emperors Champion! The only things I can see that you might want to do are make the white more solid and myabe add a brown wash to the gold chains to define them more.

yes yes - this is the best one of your BTs yet. Really awsome mini. Super choise of colors.
The only comment is that I can\'t see what the thing is on the skulls forehead.
