Most of the hard work was done by my friend, but I tidied it up for him after he started getting bored with it. I did the sword and the base mainly.

The model isn\'t \'finished\' yet, but constructive critism is needed to get this to be the best it can be (from our humble paintbrushes, at least).

Thanks in advance.

6-7.5 from what i can tell. that pic is soo far away:p. try getting some better ones. and make sure to get alot of light on the mini and use no camera flash

OK dont take this as critisism it just my opinion. First dont post unfinished minis. Your score will be lower than a finished one and may not reflect your actual paint job. best thing to do is get an account with photobucket and post them in the paint etc under the WIP post. You should get a better response. Next when you take a photo make sure the mini is 90% of the photo at least. Its hard to make out the details.

Also dont post multiple pics of the same mini. You could easily stack the pics in the one post.

Looks like you blending needs some work but it could be the pic. Also the lines on the freehand need to be tidied. I\'d vote a 6 for the paint job but would drop a point cause the base isnt finished.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

I would of stacked the picture, but I\'m thick with that sort of thing and I don\'t have any graphical programs on my pc anyway (don\'t ask why, I have no idea).

I\'m looking more for advice to what needs the most work at the moment rather then an actual rating. Painting models with great care and attention to detail is still new to me, so I don\'t really know what to do!

We tried to take closer pictures, but they were far too fuzzy when we zoomed in, so we left them as long shots for the time being. We\'ll work more on that and work out how to focus and light the model up properly next time.

The base would be finished by now, but I\'ve lost my static grass...I\'d better go buy some more asap!

Anyway, thanks for the comments so far - 6 - 7.5 is highly generous from my point of new (especially since my last mini achieved an amazing 4.6 :~()!

It looks to me like the trsitions on the cloth are to harsh. Going from dark grey up to almost white in one hit. But as Ogrebane said it is hard to tell from the distance.
Also the metal around the vents on the backpack looks pretty messy.

Indeed they are. Horribly messy - that GW metallic paint is beyond belief! I may carefully strip the paint off that area and start again using NMM techniques. Never done it before, but you have to start sometime, huh?

The cloth tones are harsh, I know. I did tell him at the time, but he was insisting that the shadows looked good. They really don\'t - and that\'s after I came around and reduced the black lines! I\'ll get him to have another go at it on friday when he comes around. Hopefully things will look better by then.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Well, Andromidius, you have said it all yourself. I have some suggestions for you; (1) Your painting partnership isn\'t working as you are both at different levels of expertise, you\'re obviously not happy so give it up. (2) Your photography needs to improve as we can\'t be constructive if we can\'t see what you\'ve done. (3) Never post work in progress on CMON - you will almost always get low marks, harsher criticism and little help. (4) Forget NMM for the time being, it seems to me you still have some basic difficulties, and anyway NMM is not superior to good metal painting.

yeah, leave the nmm for now - for it to look any good you need to blend pretty well. as for stacking pics, just use paint. thats what i do. i know my pictures are the professional quality of some on the site but it\'s a good start. most important of all, practice.
