This is a commission piece completed for Doctor Thunder (some of you may be familiar with his work on female space marines.)

This is the first large attempt at freehand on a model. I\'m still learning so come constructive crit would be much appreciated.

Cheers

looks really good mate, at first I looked at those legs and thought - crap/b - but it kind of grew on me, and now I think it looks cool. The freehand looks fine to me, it\'s a little hard to see without closeups, but I would say you have the idea, so now it\'s just practice.

I like it however it appears to have only 6 legs ( from what Ive seen in your other photos) 8 would be the correct amount.
furthermore I would suggest maybe doing some type of spider web over the SoB as if its cocooned her in etc.
overall nice work and i would love to see the rest of the army :)

That\'s a really neat idea! Very unique, I like it a lot! The paintjob is nice too. Great job for your first attempt at freehand.

I\'ve been wanting to find a use for those extra SOB figures. I\'ve got a few sitting around. I may have to try something like that! :D

RE: Closeups - sorry guys, the mini has left my possession. I\'ll see if I can get the client to take some pics.

RE: Legs - the legs are from one of the mechs in a game called robogear. Google it, you\'re sure to come up with the exact model.

RE: 6 legs - actually if you count the arms, there are 8 limbs :)

The finished piece is great, and I like how all the little details and freehand designs came together in the end. Definitely a very stylish and crisply painted figure - the minimalistic edge highlighting approach works well for the armor panels and such on this piece and it looks good overall.
