blending metallics into plain acrylic

I have just started to paint a Warmachine Cryx Brute Thrall and wanted an effect that makes the flesh on the arms look like it is blended into metallic fists. Much in the way frostbite looks when blended into normal flesh.
Due to the nature of metallic acrylic paints would it be technically better to paint the flesh first and then blend the metallic into it or vice versa?

Or does it even not matter what goes where and when?

The metallic paints of most regular miniature paint ranges (P3, Vallejo, Citadel etc.) mix well with ordinary, matte acrylic paints. So, I think you can use any blending method you would normally use when blending only matte paints.

I think this will depend on exactly how you want the transitions to look, as well as the nature of the paints you\'ll be using. So try a couple of experiments, see how things go.

My gut feeling is that you\'ll get better results by going over the metallics with the normal paints, but a mixed transition colour (or two) might also be a good idea.

Another idea, if you have the time and want to experiment: Paint the normal acrylics all over, then mix the metallic colour with Vallejo Glaze Medium to thin it out. Then layer on the metallics with increasing... well, layers. Just a thought

Just gradually mixing in metallics works fine, as well. I once did a dark green robe, adding metallic gold for highlights. Nice effect. Just go easy on the metallics, they tend to overwhelm the normal stuff easily.

I\'m with Einion on the gut feeling.. much the same way as shading metallics with flat colours works paint up the fists first then use plenty of thin glazes of colour from the metallic into the flesh...
