Blight Fang Black Dragon

I just finished painting up Reaper's Blight Fang as a black dragon. A friend of mine bought the dragon, and I painted it for him as a gift.

not a massive fan of the mini but a lovely pj

Yeah, a good dragon mini is hard to find, but that paint job counts as a win. The black looks black, the highlights define the bits but don't drag the tone away from it clearly being black instead of grey or dark blue. The wing membrane is a nice complimentary tone and ties into the underbelly colour. Looks a tad chalky in places, with the high contrast highlights being difficult to render as smoothly as a high placing mini' often gets, but it'll get a good score off me. It's a doozie.

I agree the paint job far outshines the actual mini. Good looking dragon!

i gave it a very nice mark. maybe im alone but i actually like the sculpt. excellent color work.

That dragon was on sale, and considering how expensive dragons are, the savings were considerable enough to sway the selection. That said, I didn't ctually buy him. I told my friend about the sale, and he'd been wanting me to paint him a dragon for a long time, so he bought it, and I painted it for free, as a gift for his Birthday.

I do like the dynamic posing, though. I think it's pretty neat, and I'm a fan of more traditional-looking dragons, so it works for me.

I actually like the sculpt as well. Ace paintjob, the black looks black but feels natural at the same time!
