'Lo all, I did this as a bit of an experiment and fun, turned out ok I think... I was hoping to get a nice black background for the pics, the pics turned out brutal though, so much light...so much light. I'd have preferred a pitch black backdrop due to the atmosphere I painted it in, I hate computers and trying to do it just drove me batshit crazy...
Ah well, this needs to go up on eBay anyway eventually.
C&C , thoughts etc welcome!

That's really good! I love the reds, you nailed that color. The base is very interesting too. THis makes a great display piece.

Did you paint that marbling effect?

I need to go through your gallery, I don't remember seeing anything from you recently.

Top stuff.

Me again...My apologies, I've went through your gallery and noticed I've never voted for a single one of your pics. (that's been fixed now)

I usually like to keep up on the 'forum' goers stuff, but somehow you've slipped under the radar.

I like your style. You have a very clean solid look to your minis, and it seems you're getting better with each one.

This latest one is one of your best (although that dude with the sharp claws is good too!).

I'll do a better job of paying attention, not sure why I slipped up there.

lmao! Tis all good, Vikey.
Yeah I was on a bit of a painting hiatus till recently when I figured I could use it to make beer tokens. Probably why you haven't been through anything in my gallery ;) .Manight, the base is, indeed, painted to look like marble. the plinth thing itself was some kina pine wood or something. The whole marble thing was something I really fancied trying! Have to say it was pretty fun to do too =D (and surprisingly easy)

Cheers for the feedback guys, really appreciate it =)

some major wonkiness in the forums here!

Mich did a great job on this mini. He definitely took his time to try new things. The plinth is very nice, I'm gonna have to steal this idea from him. Maybe he'll do this again and I can watch over his shoulder to see what he did.

Heya,

I myself am currently learning how to paint mini's and I'm doing it by building a BA army. I really really like how you've done this mini, impo it's superb, and I especially like the marble, brilliant piece in my eyes and it's given me more motivation to learn how to paint my BA's well too.

All the best :D

P.S - Did you use a Wash as a base for the shadows or did you Juice it on?

Cheers Skraaal, glad I could spur on some other folk. First time i'd tried to paint a Blood Angel so anything is possible if I can do it =P

For the shadows I basically worked back from a dark red (Scab Red equivilent) Just throw in the shadows where they should be then blend it back to the red! It was easier done than I'd thought when I tried it. I started with a base of Scab Red, just went lighter in places and darker in others =) I'd recommend giving it a shot, i'd like to see how it works out for yah!
