Scott.. the lights should go through the screens onthe side
thats what creates the diffuse light in the box and a lack of shadows/ glare light it from the side and top with only non direct light from the front ansd see how it goes

check out this picture and notice how the lights are going through the screens on the sides

Yeah. Feel like a bit of an idiot for not realizing that after buying a light tent I shouldn\'t just ignore it and balst the light right at the fig. Also I had my lights butted right into the sides of the thing rather than placing then a little away from the tent. Will try and experiment over the weekend.

Haha, yeah the light from the front might be the problem then.

I made a thread in the photography forum when I was working on the vamp, I got lots of useful info there, you might want to look ;)

Yeah this one wil get the white line fever for sure. It\'s just a pain in the ass to set up and clean the airbrush for one stripe o\' white paint that I\'m gonna wait till the rest of the team is done.

Now....

I\'m not typically one to cry foul about scores as this place has always treated me pretty fairly... and this submission is really about trouble shooting the picture taking... But...

The score. It\'s at a 5 which I feel is a little lower as I know I used more skill in this model then I did on my 7/10 models and I am happy with it. But, the score went from about a 5.6ish intitally down to a 5.0 I\'m not crying here but that indicates it recieved scores less than 5. Even with the crap pic I really don\'t think that this model should be voted in the 3-4 range. That seems a touch low. I was in some discussion regarding \"sniping\" and how I didn\'t feel it really happened around here as much as people thought it did. Have I picked up some haters or is the work TRULY that bad in the pic\'s?

I\'ve had some great and honest responses here on CMON regarding my painting, and even this fig (You the man GreenOne!) so I wouldn\'t mind some honest appraisals regarding this fig. It won\'t hurt my feelings, I just want to make sure I\'m not backtracking and undoing a lot of the good stuff I\'ve learned here over the months.

Help a kid out! Please tell me if this honestly looks like a 3-4 range fig.

Thanks amigo\'s!

can\'t you drybrush the line?
edit: i\'d vote a 5. some of the paint seems a little thick in places (could be the mini not being smooth)

the red and metal areas don\'t seem to be as good as the skin and teeth either

Yeah, the pic sure does tend to a 5. I\'m fine with that, I just don\'t see what could push someone to the 3 or 4 mark.

I like the airbrushed line look. Plus, even if Drybrushing the line worked better when you\'ve spend four or five hundred bucks on an airbrush rig you gotta find excuses to use it, y\'know what I\'m sayin\'.

Thanks amigo!

Nah, I\'m not that caught up in it. I am happy with the work, I know somes not showing up in the pic, but it\'s not great shakes style painting for sure.

It\'s the 3 votes and the 4 votes I\'m not that impressed with. I really, really, don\'t see this fig, even in the depressed picture I\'ve taken, as being below the 5 mark.

Okay, tried playing around with the camera and the light tent. Is this pic better....

I can find no f-stop function on the camera (Canon Elph something or other). Is that bad?

HAH! Thanks for that! The manual is gone and I hated to look it up and do the work myself. Sue me. But the Wife got a much better looking sony piece of work for christmas. I may use hers, and I will RTFM for the one. hah, I had to google RTFM!

Much better indeed. You got rid of the glare, color balance looks better and you removed the background pretty well. I think the backdrop is a bit too bright for the subject though maybe go more grey than white.
The only problem is half the orc is out of focus.
The F-stop thing won\'t be a magic button that fixes the pics, it\'s a matters of settings. If there\'s is no manual settings on your camera, then it\'s a piece of trash; if there are, which is almost certain, you\'ll have something about aperture (F) and shutter speed (S), you\'re looking to increase the F value to deepen the field.
