Blood, gore, splater and drips.....any thoughts?

I have a personal project that I am working on and I want to create a blood like effect, I have read plenty about creating blood, inks and paints, ect... what I am after though is making it look chunky and like it is dripping, the figure is holding an axe and I want to create a drip of blood going from his axe to the ground. I have been experimenting with epoxy, and testors glue, but it has been rather messy and random. I tried finding a picture of what I am looking for but my search-fu is off. Any thoughts?

tamiya clear red is unmatched for quality gore. apply after varnishing to keep the sheen. drips can be made using uhu glue, either mixed with tcr (be quick as it dries VERY quick) or coated with tcr when dry. you can also use a hair and put a smidge of pva on it to turn it into a drip, then glue to the mini and add tcr

Thanks, 2 questions, what is pva and what is uhu glue, are they both available in the states?

PVA glue is a white glue availible in any hobby or stationary shop. You probably used it in school during art classes to glue paper (or just about anything else!) together. I remember it under the brand name Copydex but there will be many more. My bottle came from a stationers and is simply called PVA glue. (subtle but it was the cheap option). I use it mainly to glue sand etc to my bases.

UHU glue is a branded product and all purpose adhesive. It can be found at http://www.uhu.com/ and is availible the world over. I think. It also glues very hard and strong. Just how strong I have found on Wikipedia -

The company has achieved one world record in Germany, in October 2007. A Ford pickup truck weighing about 4 tonnes was suspended from a crane with the help of UHU glue. Two steel parts 7 cm in diameter were glued together with an UHU derivative and were used to connect car and crane hook.[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP]
This record was subsequently beaten in March 2009 by the German firm Henkel, who lifted a similar Ford truck, this time with a Smart microcar in the back, giving a total weight of 5.02 tonnes

Strong stuff then!!

Just the general purpose UHU glue. It can be messy so keep it away from your mini. Apply with the end of a pin of cocktail stick.

That is some really nice work....I have been looking online for the past hour and cant find an US distributors of the UHU All Purpose Adhesive, seems to be a Euro thing. Anyone know what the primary ingredients are in the glue, maybe I can find a US alternative?

Get it off Ebay - I just had a search and found sellers that will ship worldwide. Only costs a few pounds.

To make the blood look really deep and dark , paint it blood red , add a thin wash of ultramarine blue and a wash of purple , then paint
over with tamiya clear red.

Also for drips you can use clear plastic sprue , or fishing line and let the colour run down the line and create a drop at the end.

Copydex is a completely different glue to PVA! Copydex is a latex based glue that stinks to high heaven. Great for gluing leather or paper together and would go "stringy" but stays opaque. PVA is known as "white glue" and is often used as wood glue too. Basically it's white but dries semi-transparent.
