Blood Raven army log

Ok. Once I get a chance I\'ll paint up one of the halo skulls and stick it on.

Got a little done on the dreads legs. Gonna do a little more highlighting, and smooth out some of the washes a bit. After that I\'m just gonna do a little more weathering and move on. I\'m not sure if the photo really shows any progress... And yes Dan I know my photos suck, I\'m working on it lol...

Saved me the trouble of cutting and pasting ;) It does look good though, you can see a bit more brown in there. Paint faster :D

Well I\'ve got an idea or two to fix my photography but I couldnt use it on this shot as my batteries flashed the dead sign right as I set it up so I just snapped this reaaaally fast without lighting at all... So it\'s a terrible picture, but I cropped most out anyways. I\'m really happy with how it turned out, it\'s my first time doing any lettering like that before.
I\'ve decided to go with the name Anteas (in case you can\'t read it...lol). The \'t\' is a little off but oh well...

Ok, got more painting done, I think these photos are a liiittle bit better (at least the dread legs are, not sure about the librarian...). I\'m \'done\' the metallics on the legs (maybe a few touch ups, and some weathering, chipping etc.) and the red on the one side is done as well. I left the other side black because I\'m debating whether to paint it red, or bone with the blood raven icon on it... The librarian is very near completion, just need to repaint the metallics on the staff. The bolter casing just has some skulls to paint, and the scroll on his right leg needs touched up a lot. Well, thats all for now. Comments and all that welcome, thanks for looking.

Hey man looking good :D What colors are you using for the red? I\'m having a crisis of faith with my new method of painting reds and yours is looking a lot like how I wanted it :D

My reds are very simple:
Scab Red
Black ink
Scab Red
Red Gore (I find they are similar enough in colour to not have to mix between)
Red Gore + Blood Red
Blood Red (edging)

I\'ll also throw a little black ink in crevices throughout the process to keep them dark. I water them down quite a bit and my paints are almost like glazes so it take quite a few layers at each step...

scriptwork in 28mm???

Holy Effing S***! lol

How on Earth you manage to write his name that neatly?! :p CURSE YOU! lol

I obviously need much more practice :p

Nice \'A\' by the way

OK cool... I just might go back to that more traditional color combination because the one I was doing is sure to drive me crazy.

I almost forgot to mention the calligraphy, that is incredible stuff right there. I suck at it, even with a pencil and a good reference I struggle with that style of lettering :p

Ok. Slightly dark picture. I originally planned on having the shield there as sort of a groin guard lol... I\'m just wondering what you all think? It\'s not on yet, I just stuck it there for the picture.

Thanks for the comments on the script. It wasnt particularly hard. I\'m surprised it turned out as good as it did. If you\'re wondering the font/type face is Old English Text MT on microsoft Word.

Hi, not sure the shield will work but I\'m not really sure because it also looks quite cool - any chance you can poste a pic with the body of the dread on.

Keep the groin armour, realistically you\'d want hinged armour plates protecting all the exposed joints.

Here\'s a pic with the torso on the legs. The sheild is glued on now, I think I may shade the skull down a bit as its fairly bright considering the amount of dreadnought above it... No time to paint for the next couple days. Too much bio to do...

That\'s a shame, he\'s looking good. Me on the other hand, I got some good news today when I finally got over my fear of checking my schedule for the next couple of weeks. The three big looming deadlines over my head are a bit more spread out than I thought! Not that I\'m rubbing it in... ;)

So would you be down with another Saturday painting/gaming day? I think Tom and the others were thinking about one... personally I just clipped 7 Marine Bikes and transferred them into a Ziploc bag so I think a few days to recover my sanity before doing any more building will be a good thing.

I\'ll probably be there. Both my Bio assignments are due this week, one tomorow morning, and the other wednesday afternoon. At that point I\'ll probably just want to chillax a bit.
On a somewhat related note, would I be able to snag a couple devastator bits off you? I can replace them once I get my box, I\'m just not gonna be able to get one before I want the bits...

The shield works once the torso is on, but I think you are right about the shading. Might steal the idear for my own dread;)

Funny how I actually managed to get a decent shot when I wasnt trying, but whenever I try my camera hates me. Anyways. A little update on the dread... Spent a while working on the base, here\'s where its at so far.
DSC00327.jpg

I realise now that its possible that the \"CADIAN IV\" might actually make it to the other side but I\'ll have to size it out before i put it there... I\'m not happy with the painting of the big crack in it so I\'ll probably rework that later. Anywho. Comments appreciated as usual. Thanks for looking.

Ok. Taking a break from the legs and moving on to the rest of the dread. Been filling gaps and fixing up the conversion all day. Had a few accidents that caused a lot of frustration, and more work. Got the combat arm metallics started, very little done right now (base coat and shading ink only).
DSC00329.jpg

I also started on my veteran sergeants banner. NMM gold, as metallics have no place on fabrics in my opinion. I think the inner field will either be bone with blood raven icon, or black with 2nd company icon (not sure what it\'ll be but I\'ll think of something...). The outer field will be red.
DSC00329-1.jpg

That reminds me... Can a veteran squad be from any company other than first? I checked my codex and it seems that all veteran squads are in the first company... Would it be really against the fluff to have a second company veteran squad?

Alrighty. Thanks for looking. Comments and what not appreciated as always.
