blood soaked blades(not)

This is the master of carnage I just finished for pastor primes compy.
The only thing is, I believe that a \"master of carnage\" might well look a good deal more bloody in real life. Can anyone suggest a decent method/recipe for putting some gore on him without it looking silly?

If I were you, I would make the blood fresh.

Paint the area you want blood to be splattered over, I use Black/Red Gore 50/50, then up to Red Gore, then Red Gore/Blood Red to Blood Red.

Then add some gloss varnish coats to that.

Then take some fishing wire, and cut off some pieces and attach them with superglue. Put a dot of gloss varnish at the tip of each wire and let it dry.

Paint the drops like before and add more gloss varnish to everything. (I usually make some transition with the varnish from the wire to the blade or hand or where I use it)

That would give a great effect.

Actually I do this to all my Eldar troops atm... I\'m getting a pic of my Jain Zar conversion soon, where it can be shown. It\'s not all that hard :)

Yes, I think it would suit him with some blood. He kinda looks like he just got out from polishing his armor :D Great looking, no doubt. But it should be fresh blood if any blood were to be added...

love that model and your paint job is looking fantastic..
As for blood fresh will work a lot better but some stale on their will add realism..
It\'s simply a matter of taste when painting it I love bloody swords when done well..

The Alan C article is cool.

Guess the basics are keep the streaks very fine and in scale..Also think about how the blood got there...
stab,, slice ,, splatter..

..
I use a mixture made up of tamiya clear red and citadel brown ink for fesh...
darkflesh and scab red for staler
darkflesh scorched brown for stalest..
there\'s a couple in my gallery (skrag is covered in it )

Youve done such a clean paint job it would be a shame to dirty it, but if you must I would also do some weathering on the mini as well. Kaple has a great article in the articles section.

Once I release some more of my finished Eldar\'s, I\'ll do an article on making blood :)

I actually used this method for spouting lava as well. It\'s great for anything that can \"spout\" or drip, and in itself, gloss varnish is great as drewl! :) Loads of potential in Fishing Wire, I can tell you that :D

Look forward to your new pics if you go ahead with it, if not, you got a great mini right there!

@Ogrebane: I agree on the weathering
