BloodFather's Axis of Chaos

Again you are all too kind. Someone left me a very nice reputation comment as well, but I can't tell who it is. I don't thing vBulletin is set up to show who left the rep comment. Thank you mystery person.

Debating leaving a couple more items on the base. Part of this is just because I wanted to practice a few techniques before moving onto my next project. However, I am running out of room so I really need some advice as to whether or not to keep the items. More importantly, your feedback will help me with my next project. Below is the item in question, a busted up helmet:

One more thing. I plan on leaving a cliche skull on every display base I make from now on. However, it'll be my trademark of sorts to hide it or make it more a part of the terrain. For this piece, the skull will be encased in ice and snow. Should be a fun little touch.

Someone's been hiding some kick ass painting ability and what better to compliment then a painting master JARHEAD lol a freedom fighting mini masterpiece creator! Your work as I have always know is very strong and a display painter you are! There is no doubt on that !!! YAYYYY I get to view another of my mates fine works! God this is what this site and this hobby is about !! Lets give a big welcome and a happy homecoming to one of the bravest men with a brush as big as his m60 gun! Welcome home bloodfather. Yes .. You can paint for sure. Now I'm inspired!!

Wow thx, from one Blood to another ;)

when I am done blushing, I am going to finish this mini and get it into the gallery!!!

Note: the M60 has been replaced by the M240 series machine gun. The latest configuration, the m240L, is a light weight version of this weapon. We fielded it on my last deployment. I must say of all 240s-Uncle Sam got this one right. It is the best weapon period in the US Army inventory. Extremely reliable and accurate. If the M60 was nick named the Pig, the 240 is the Hog. It certainly Hogs all of the kills, as it is the most casualty producing direct fire weapon, on the battlefield.

But I digress :) Still looking for feedback on the above helmet. Just want to know what others think of it. It's not my best NMM, but if other honestly think it looks good, I will include it on the base. Otherwise, if y'all think the same as me and that it's nothing special, I won't put it on an already busy base.

I'm ready for the gallery folks! Just wanted a quick opinion. Does this black background look ok? It's kind of
challenging me because the slightest light change and there is a noticeable difference in the darkness of the background between pics. And I don't know how to use the photoshop to darken that way. Anyway, here it is, one close up:

Oh fancy sir. I think the grey is a good contrast to it and helps you see all the hard work and detail you put into it.

That is sweet, the back ground is great, but you are stuck in hell with white snow and a black background o_O Ironically you have to under expose the photo with a black background and actually use a little less (or softer more diffused is more accurate) light than you think you need so it doesn't wash out your highlights. Welcome to mini photography hell!!! Looks great though, that could get an 8+ easy :)

For that black background it seems as if you're only using one light off to the viewers left.
Best using two crossing over, remember X marks the spot keeping the background dark.
I'll warn you now it's a sod to get right but once you do...JOY

Using a lot of high tech equipment in my studio over here. iPhone camera, shooting outdoors. Place the mini in a shaded area just outside of very bright sunlight. The differences in shade aren't so noticeable when using a colored background...sending these off to Demihuman to put on a roll, hopefully he can darken it evenly for me.

Whoa! That looks great man! I am a little jealous! The spear and the ax really set each other off. The purple kinda does a triangle thing with the snow... Way to persevere! I won't make a guess about score but that is a mini (and photo)to be proud of.

And only 620 posts! look at that.. LOL. I have to admit I have learned a lot reading this thread. BFoK you have knack for squeezing information from people :)

(Like what DR is talking about with the black background I think i finally get it - you dont want the lights shining on your background just your mini.)

Send 'em on over. I'll get the Gimp out of his box.

Thanks Demi! Yeah the mini and foreground are exactly as I want them. And the background is actually not too bad, but the issue is when I send you multiple pics, the darkness of the background varies between pics. So my hope was that maybe your Gimp can make them all a nice even black without altering anything else. (I think I saw Ten Ball do it for someone on another thread). If this isn't possible I can reshoot with a colored background.

Wow, didn't realize I was up to 620!!! That's a lot of writing for one mini in the gallery, eh? Honestly, tho, I am so inquisitive because you all are so damn helpful!!! Helped me really turn this project around....

Ill be sure to give a shout out to everyone when it's posted...

I can match the backgrounds for you, it's no big deal. Even if the are a little different you its not something people notice. And it keeps all the griefers from shouting "Photoshopped! no one can paint that good!" lol :)

Fantastic Buddy!
Demi is right, squeeze that info out for us all. I see you have progression through the mini and the sword and axe are on another level. On wards and upwards :)
