BloodFather's Axis of Chaos

Hmm, maybe on the pelt use lighter browns for the stripes. Then you can come back in with a nice transperent dark brown ink and shadow everything. Then go back and pick out individual high spots with with your original colors.

Right. Like all things in painting, when I say black what I really mean is dark brown. I'll vary them in shape and intensity. Some will just be a couple layers so that they aren't as bold as others.

I'd seriously consider starting with pale colours as your base coat, then work with darker colours as thin as washes you would use.

Right. If I do pelt pictures above, I think I'll start out with:
#1-a light tan base coat (commando khaki?)
#2-rough initial layer or two of stripes and spots in dark brown
#3-Tan in places, mostly towards center (graveyard earth + tau ochre?)
#4-orange-brown in places, between stripes, inside spots (bubonic brown+blazing orange?)
#5-White on some edges, inside of some spots
#6-Solidify black brown stripes and spots

This make sense?

Want to show what the NMM gold looks like just base coated. This will give an idea of how I start the process. The first pic though is of a 90% finished gold section. All other parts just have 3 layers of VGC Leather Brown. Hope you like where it's headed:

This angle just happens to be the angle where all the gold is in shadow.

Also, yes nothing has been edge highlighted because I am still glazing :)

Some parts are still just base coated. Like the wand.

For sure, it just needs the bling highlights to go then if you need to deepen any you'll see it. with tmm i'm always back and forth, never get the balance first time :(

Well, CMON has be DEAD this weekend. Very much so. I hope that means everyone is busy working on their fine pieces of art, or spending the time with their families!!

My wife has been gone for a steady month now. And it is apparent. The painting station has moved to the coffee table. So now I NEVER have to leave the couch !!! I am surrounded by pizza boxes, a 24 hour old rinsing water bowl, about 2 dozen paints, and a half eaten bowl of Chinese food sits on my wet pallet! Mu Hahahahaha!!!!

Full Bachelor Mode over here!!

Help!!!

Had to leave the couch this morning. This stupid thing called work is interfering with my painting. The wife was on her way home, driving across the entire country, she was a days drive from our home out here on the NW coast of the US. Then she received a call of a death in her family, and so had to turn around and go aaaalllllll the way back to the other side of the country-2500 miles. So needless to say, I'll be on my own for awhile longer, subsisting on Mountain Dew and Pringles.

But the painting will go on! Very pleased with how the rusty red look of the armor is coming along. I used VGC Dark Flesh, adding the smallest amount of GWs technical rust-which comes out as a textured orange. I placed it along the cracks or in the armor joins. Currently in the process of adding cuts and rents in the armor, further contributing to his battle scarred appearance...

At this stage in the game I am normally very frustrated and worried about what I can do to fix things, but I am surprisingly very happy with how things are looking. Yay!

Sorry to hear that.

I really like the red in the armor. Adds another layer of detail to the NMM, very nice! Just be careful not to overdo it on the Mt Dew. Jittery hands are no good for painting.

I went to school for the type of situation you find yourself in. I can help expand your survival ability while keeping your cost low. Hot pockets and ramen noodles. All other information will be billable in the price of painting of future sculpts.

Deepest sincerity on the loss.
painting is looking very good from what I can see. The colour choice is excellent and this is becoming another of your threads to watch.
