Like what you've done to the base to correct the situation and the colours look a lot better now.
And another great history lesson from DR as well, always a pleasure for more background information

Welp, looks like problem solved to me! That's a damn fine base, looks like you have a knack for foliage placement. The mini settles in nicely, good scale to the base. It would still be neat to see some moss added to the bricks (maybe just with dry pigments at this scale?) for a little color variation, but I like moss everywhere on everything so maybe that's just me.

Shucks, thanks fellers. Feels good to pull myself again from the pits of despair to seeing the end of a project. Thought this one might end up like my last piece where the base hurt the mini. Of course , very importantly I learned a lot from it.

DR: this brick structure pre dates Roman expeditions to Egypt where the 1:2:4 ratio for brick sizes was learned. It is held together by wooly mammoth dung.

Sionid: I am yet to find a moss that I feel works convincingly for me. I do have slate green weathering powder that may look okay, but in testing it at the beginning of all this, I am not sure I found it effective. I will experiment a bit further tho.

You really applied what you learned last time quite well and part of the fun of basing is realizing just how much of the detail will be covered or blended by other details and pigments and such once painted and landscaped. Messy tends to look natural in the end. It looks pretty boss, nice work.

Before anyone asks, No I wasn't around at the time. It's a combination learned from "Time Team" TV programmes and a Sketching companion who's an Architectural lecturer and Historian, giving talks on aspects of some of the buildings we draw.

Ditto everyone. Excellent adjustments and definitely progress to be proud of. P.s. I also hear that mammoth dung makes really strong bricks. Lol :)

Yeah! those bricks came out great! Now just to add the tiger stripes :) Seriously though, lot's of continuity.

Hey, the stripes have been semi complete for awhile. Still need to do some very minor things here n there, but I was happy with the result. It goes from vermin brown to VMC orange brown (10ball orange), to some varieties of tan to Ivory. I also used a color called VMC natural wood to add some yellow here and there. Not sure how much these pics do it justice.

Wild stuff or Weird Sh*t? Probably a bit of both
Having a constantly enquiring mind and an obsessive need to keep my mind occupied to defeat depression, fills up the corners of my mind, just like a Hobbit fills up the corners of his stomach.
Would you believe that at school I was not that good academically, I've ended up learning more by following my own endeavours and interests than I did by the classroom curriculum.

i agree with this. I did well in school, but definitely learned much more following my own endeavors. And high school in the US is lousy at teaching history, so you had to rely on your own curiosity.

Me, in my best attempt to sound like a wise man.

Why, thank you Gandalf! And to everyone else as well. Can't wait to get her in the gallery. Thank to Digganob for not kicking mine arse, and to the rest of you lot for taking the time to comment.

One thing I am a bit worried about... As you can see I primed some plastic black and I'll be cutting it so it has the effect of outlining the base where parts would jut out. Any advice on how to cut it cleanly and straight? It seem like when I use a exacto hobby knife thing I can't cut it straight enough. When I use my little scissors it leaves a rough and jagged edge. I'm worried about this because I'll only have but one chance to do it right...anyone got any pointers here? Maybe pencil in the shape first? Advice on sanding the edges...etc
