Bloody looking effect?

So I`m painting the Screaming Antelope from KDM and I`m having issues trying to get a decent wet blood look. I`ve tried GW`s Blood/Blood God paint, but it just didn't look right. Just shiny. I also tried out a popular suggestion from the WWW which involves Tamiya Clear Red with some black/brown inks, and I think it looks better, but still ends up looking like a shiny muscles. Any suggestions what I can do to make it look wet and not shiny. I also tried throwing some "Still Water"into the mix, but that didn't really do much either. This photo is with the Tamiya Clear Red/black ink/Still Water mix.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

you just need to add some strings of blood in places to sell the effect with a little UHU mixed with the tamyia red. Also add some drop to the base to tie them in.

Yeah, I read about the blood strings, but decided against it as I have to transport the game to and from work. I don't think the strings would last. I'll probably bloody up the ground though a bit to help blend the base and model together. Maybe paint up a limb here and a limb there...

Thanks.

Try a satin finish it will give a limited shine . If it's wet they'll be some shine but you can control the amount and type of shine.;)

A satin finish is about half way between a flat and gloss. The problem is that if it is wet it will be shiny regardless unless it is absorbent material. Although I do know what you are saying. Just be judicious about where you place the gloss. A semi gloss finish might work better as suggested.

Army Painter makes a glistening blood effect paint that I think works fairly well.

Doesn't look overly glossy to my eye, just the right amount of wet.
