I got some greenstuff from heresey a while back- excellent customer service there as Finn says. I will no doubt get the netherlord at some point too. :D

As for Rackham, I think the french are just trying to get their own back on us Brits really for all those \"I hate the french books\" that we put out and our general british-french rivalry.

Regards

when Foundry were based in Guernsey (as Guernsey Foundry) for example. I made a number of orders with them for models and each time there was a little note of thanks personally written by the guy who\'d packed my order
I just made an order with Foundry (The Viking berserker and had exactly the same a small handwritten note on the inside cover of the box. (Ahh....warm cuddly feeling of customer service)
Plus It was chuffing quick response.:D

Maybe it is only a Canadian thing, but every year my local GW store holds a sale/auction/raffle day. Last year I bought every single Inquisitor model plus all the books (2), dice, and Exterminatus 1-4 for $250.00, incliding the Genestealer & Kroot. The only one I didn\'t get was the Eldar Ranger as it wasn\'t in the store yet. It was like 25 boxes. Approximately $900.00+ value. One of the guys had to help me carry it all to the car, very heavy! They always have some different crazy deal like that.

They raffle off Army Battle boxes and auction off all the store painted armies and terrain, bags of bitz and damaged boxes. This year I bought all the new Mordhiem warbands at 50% off, Dwarves, Amazons, Pit fighters. All the Warmaster, Mordhiem and Gothic stuff was at 50% off, Inquisitor at 30%.

They\'ve done this every year since I\'ve been in the hobby, that I can remember, since 1995.

That is how I remember Games Workshop.

I loved those sales and used to give my credit cards a good thrashing. The last one I remember though, they were flogging off Gorkamorka, not Inquisitor. Make the most of it my friend.

The credit card is evil and needs to be punishedlollollol

If I gave the impression that I was knocking GW\'s sales it was not my intention.

I fondly remember buying a whole regiment of Marauder minotaurs and almost a whole dwarf army in one of the first sales I attended and in the expansion of store openings in SE England I managed to get to five or six opening sales.

The problem with buying minis in this way is that inevitably some (lots) don\'t get painted (for eg half the dwarves).

More recently I picked up a lot of the Dogs of War sets - just before they were dropped! - about half of the Ogre regiment have been painted so far and none of the other sets. - C\'est la vie.

I am continually surprised at the problems people seem to have with GW shop staff as noted in this thead and many others.

I have always found them to be helpful, polite and well trained - there can be an overkill on product knowledge but that is to be expected.

What they are very good at is dealing with a whole range of customers - my aunt, who is in her eighties, sings their praises when she goes in to buy my annual gift vouchers (XMas and birthday) and my son who is 13 gets similar service.

This is one of their major strengths as retailers and cannot be underestimated in terms of the companies future.

Sorry if this sounds like I\'m on the payroll - I\'m not!

Nomis, I never picked up the impression that you were seriously knocking sales. Who does?

I also agree with you about GW staff.

If anything, as you said, too enthusiastic and too knowledgeable. I have spent a large portion of my life trying to edge out of a GW store whilst a pimply youth extols the virtues of a lizardman army.

The trouble with their staff is, a microcosm of the trouble with the whole company and a reflection of how they see their customers. Use them up and throw them away. Another one will be along shortly. :D

ERRRGH!

Okay, here\'s why GW is the epitome of al that is wrong with the world: In the past when they\'ve covered the GD awards, the added a few honorable mentions. I saw them photographing mine and I thought \"well, that would be nice\". I wait next month for the pics. None, I wait another, none. I wait and today I open up the magiazine: all the winers and no freaking honorable mentions. It wasn\'t just me who was there, either. I\'m sure people would like to see some of Jim\'s stuff he did, but NooooOOOooo that would be too much for them! Instead, we gotta see that Eric Cartman wannabe Paul Sawyers crap EVERY ISSUE and he paints like a blind monky on crack with three toes! Consequently, I\'m probably not going to be subscribing to WD anymore.....

On closer inspection...

I find I am actually in White Dwarf! If you look on page 2 in the bottom right hand pic, I\'m the guy in teh background to the right of the lady\'s head.. I\'m smaller than an Epic Space Marine, but hey.. the Unholy one never got front page!!!

Chrispy, while I will agree with the general thrust of this thread that GW is evil, much like I agreed with the GW is Evil thread, the fact that your pictures didn\'t get put in the magazine is a miniscule part of the overall issue here - international exposure would be nice, but aint that why you\'re here?
