Board Games Reccomendations?

I also strongly recommend Shogun but not the MB version, the one from Queen games that is an international version of Wallenstien. This is my favourite multi player war type game (aka Game of Thrones)

If you don\'t like the dice in Catan try out the new cards, they replace the dice and make power gamers much happier.

If you haven\'t been there yet I strongly suggest www.boardgamegeek.com besides this and my own site it\'s where I spend the majority of my time online.

Here\'s my Top ten games played ranked by my preferance. I obviously recommend all of them strongly. I\'ve got 254 boardgames in my still growing collection:
#1: Shogun
#2: Puerto Rico
#3: Commands & Colors: Ancients
#4: BattleLore
#5: Hacienda
#6: Attika
#7: Princes of Florence, The
#8: Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition
#9: Acquire
#10: Shadows over Camelot

Two pages without anybody mentioning Robo Rally? Robo Rally it is, then. It\'s got amazing rules and incredible replay value. Check it out.

I was thinking of that game just the other day. Didn\'t like to play the game, just building the trap. Wondered if that was just me or that the game wasn\'t that much fun.

Course, I played Risk for weeks just by myself. Came up with robot rules for what I could or could not do in different situations.

Yeah, okay, geeky from age 8. Guilty!

Heroquest is a legend! I remember the first encounter was in childhood. I was about 13 years old when my bro got it as xmass present. After that we played with the guys in neighborhood like crazy for about 2 years. As we got older it was stored away around 94.
2 months ago, while searching in the basement, guess what! Heroquest was there and in exceptional condition. We said \'\'should we give it a go?\'\' and we did.
Well we got stuck with it. We ordered one more and now a third is on its way. Old friends gathered and new more challenging rules were set. Being graphic designer i got into the trip of making new cards and a system of abilities. We are having a great time! Old friends, a mist of cigarette smoke, bottles of beer and wine and play till 6 in the morning some fridays.
Yep! We are getting in 30\'s and still can be children as our girls/wives say:D

I strongly suggest trying to find Advanced Heroquest or at least the rules for all these fans of Heroquest. Besides being a better game with much more in depth rules there are rules for random dungeon creation and even Solo play if I remember correctly.

I loved HQ until I found AHQ. HQ is still fun for a super rules light night, but AHQ is the game I keep coming back to.

You can probably find a copy of the rules in PDF somewhere.

Monopoly is a classic

Hell yes, Monopoly! I recently bought the star wars edition and my parents bought me the Christmas Story edition. The Christmas Story version is awesome. One of the play pieces is Ralphie dressed in the bunny outfit. Great stuff! lol

Yep, lots of heroquest and AHQ played in the day. Some good suggestions out there!

Except monopoly. I love it, but it always turns into drunken messes around our place. Plus, I insist on NOT playing with the stupid 500$ on free parking rule. The game will never end. The politicing can get quite elaborate though.

We\'re a pretty competitive bunch... sigh.
