Hi all,

Here is something I 've been working on (along with my boyfriend) for the past 3 weeks (or so). It is for a forum competition (greek warhammer dedicated forum), and the deadline is for the 30th of July, although I hope I will be done by next seekend.

Anyhow, all comments and suggestions are welcome :D

Very impressive work, the weathering is fantastic and all the little details really pull it together...also very interesting to see the progression from the start, thanks for posting all those pictures so we could see how it was made!

Many thanks everyone. Hopefully, today We'll be adding the ladder and (finally) painting the windows. Once these two are done, we can then proceed to doing the rest of the base :)

Small update.

The construction bit is finally over. All that's left now, is some weathering on the various crates and barels, plus loads of vegetation :D

Wow! Really great job here!
I especially like the horse in front of the boat, a small thing that adds so much to the whole thing :)

This is amazing. Thanks for taking the time to take so many photos.
May I ask how you made the mud puddles! They look real.

Many thanks everyone!

The puddles are vallejo's static water (about 8 layers), mixed with camouflage green for the bottom layers, interior green for the middle layers, dark yellow for the upper layers and mud brown for the final two layers (all colours are from the vallejo-air range)

No Such Agency

How inspiring/inspired. Looks like something from Terry Gilliam.

Ha, but it should be on a really big guy's head then?

Anyway, great work, it deserves to win something... The weathered wood is really nice, and the draped ropes etc. are convincing in scale which is not easy. Display piece only, or might it end up as gaming scenery?

Again, thanks everyone!

"No such agency" although I did build it on a display base (not being a wargamer myself), it is pretty sturdy. The 4 main support pillars of the main structure, are rooted deep into the base and glued with pva and superglue, while the inside of the "house" has been filled with polyurethane, both to keep everything in place and to better absorb and distribute all vibrations. The tree, is basically wooden sticks glued together and covered in plaster and epoxy (for the main trunk and bigger branches, for some of the smaller ones I used elastomere instead of plaster. It has been glued in place again using pva and superglue and the point where the roots are touching the ground, has been given a mixture of plaster and resin so as to further strenthen it.

All in all, it is pretty strong and although a display piece, any similar model using the same techniques as above could easily withstand the harshest of environments ;)

Wow. now that is one HECK of a display base. I hope you'll post some pictures with the minis included. I'd also love to see a tutorial on how you did the tree!
Cheers,
Grumb
