Books about the crusades: fiction or non fiction

Hey everyone,

I was curious to know if anyone knows of any good books about the crusades. They can be fiction or non fiction. I just think it was and interesting time period and would like to read about it.

Only Fiction I can think of off the top of my head is Sir Walter Scott\'s: \"The Talisman\".

But there are a lot of books set around the Court of Richard, Couer De Lion (LionHeart).
Have a look at the works of Bernard Cornwall as I\'m sure he has written a couple around set that era.

There is a book, must be about 30 years old now (plus), written from the point of view of a Jewish soldier defending Jerusalem from the seige of Crusaders. Was an interesting and differing read. Just wish I could remember the Author and Title.

Look up the Osprey books as they are a good historical insight into the battles and uniforms.

Osprey books are more like gcse history, they skim over things leaving out a lot of important information.

search amazon mate, loads of books on history, especialy the bigger events such as richards crusade.

A book I enjoyed was \"Deus le volt!\" It\'s written from the perspective of a historian a couple hundred years after the crusades. It\'s a long, thick read, but still manages to be exciting without completely sacrificing objectivity.

I actually re-reading a book now. Though its not specifically about the crusades it is that period.

its def worth a read if your remotly interested in religious militias and/or the poltical intricacies of the crusading era.
