Rules look good

These rules look fine to me. any painting technique, any chapter colors, on a basic marine, no additions or conversions. I\'m in for the pot of paint prize, and I like the idea of \"joint\" winners; highest popular vote, highest participant vote. Kinda like the best army apperance and players choice awards at GTs.

But I have a question, if the optional entry \"fee\" is a pot of paint, who do we send the pot to? And should we call dibs on a certain color. It sure would suck to get 50 pots of Fiery Orange. And now that I think about it, what brand paint? Some folks are diametrically opposed to Citadel Paints.

Here is my suggestion, any accrylic brand of paint that is inteded for figure model painting. Further, I\'d suggest sticking to basic colors. Sure I need some Dark Angel\'s Green, but I run out of primary colors far more quickly with all of this stupid mixing.

Sorry, I had the monkey wrench in my hand and I had to throw it somewhere...

There is no \'entry fee\'! This is an open site and anyone can post what they like according to the site rules. Some people thought that a very small prize would be a nice touch amongst those participants who wanted to become involved. A pot of paint seemed small at the time. The \'pot of paint\' prize will be purely for people who want to participate and can therefore only fairly be awarded to the person who wins the \'participant vote\'. I have to admit I hadn\'t worked out all the minor details of this but here goes...deep breath....The winner of the \'participant vote\' can send me their postal address. I will then forward that to those people who expressed an interest to participate in the \'pot of paint\' side of the compo. It will then be up to those people to do what they think is right. I don\'t think you can impose rules or restrictions about this. For myself, I will look through my collection to see how many duplicates I have and send one, or maybe more if I am really impressed, off to the winner. Should cost only a few pennies in postage.

Above comment applies ie. I don\'t think you can impose rules or restrictions about this. It\'s one of those cases where the thought is supposed to count more than the actual gift. I just think some people might be chuffed to receive a few little surprise packages from around the world.

I will be checking at a later date just who still wants to participate in this side of the challenge.

I\'ll go find some ascetic-looking appendages and strap them onto the bugger. I\'ll have you know that I\'ve been stripping enamel paint from this marine. A labour of love or what? ???

Alright!!! Looks like we have ourselves a friendly comp, thanks again Tabithatan & Finn 17:) I\'m cool to just send the winner whatever paint she/he desires, (black,blue, GW, RP, Vallejo etc.) But I guess we\'ll cross that bridge when we get there. Well enough typing I\'ve got some painting to do. Adious...

Why not, when the comp is over, anyone who participates in the prize portion of the competition just PM the winner, and ask him/her what they want? I agree to buy any brand and color they want, and just ship it to \'em.

If not that, how about we just paypal them enough currency to get a pot, and let them pick it out for themselves? well, that might be a bad idea (changing the \"prize\" from a supply to a monetary value...

If I just provide email and postal address of the \'winner\' then people can really do what they like. Some might want to send some paint they consider to be surplus, for others, that might not be appropriate. If it\'s easier to PayPal a couple of dollars, then I am sure no-one will object. Personally, I will try and send a little something \'cos I am a big kid at heart and it\'s always nice to hear the postman call. But hey! no-one will object to a couple of $ in their PayPal account---if they have one? Each to their own. No one should feel obligated in any way. It\'s just a laughlol

This idea is becoming a bit like Frankenstein\'s monster. But in a very good way! I am really pleased that the numbers are growing every day and this will make for a very interesting little competion.

I would like to re-emphasise that the prize idea is just \'for fun\'. If you don\'t want to enter this part you don\'t have to.
The reward for entering into the \'SMALL prize\' competition is that the winner will be decided by those people who have registered an interest and who are prepared to send me an email ranking the other registered entrants in order of preference. You will have to trust me to collate the stats. I will happily share this with another impartial party, but I really don\'t want this thing to get that competitive!
Does that sound fair:bouncy:

Lets see, no entry fee (official anyways), a HUGE time limit, and overall a very humorous activity. COUNT ME IN!

Sadly though, I\'m limited to the lovely plastic minis that they currently have on market. All of my pewter and 2nd editions ones have good spots in one of my armies.

One question, can we pose the model in a \"not common\" pose. Dramatic pose? Funny pose? exc. It doesn\'t seem in the spirit of the competition, but I thought I\'d ask anyways.

That\'s a great idea, and anyone who wanted to do that .. could!
Anyone who has an email address can (theoretically) accesss PayPal.

As the \'Joe Schmoe\' in the middle however, I ain\'t about to open a PayPal account for anybody! No offense. I re-iterate - it\'s a fun idea. Those who want to get into a huddle and award a SMALL prize to a democratically noninated winner may do so and I am happy to facilitate this process.

My part in this however, is purely advisory and faciliative. I don\'t want to over-complicate the issue in any way. Those who want to participate in the \'small prize\' competition will ultimately be provided with a couple of solutions to the problem of how to reward the \'winner\'. Whether they choose to send one pot of paint, 100 pots of paint, or credit the lucky so-and-so\'s account with a couple of dollars will be left entirely up to them.

You are quite right. It would probably not be in the spirit of the competition. Unless you were extremely subtle in it\'s execution.

The point of the exercise is, \'value added\'. ie if you take the most boring mini you can find and turn it into a masterpiece by painting it, you will win. However, it must be an ordinary SM, not converted etc. If you take a basic \'boring\'SM and convert him by changing his pose...surely it will become a \'conversion\'.

This will not stop you from winning the overall, highest CMON prize. But will severely handicap you if you wanted to enter the \'small prize\' competition as very few of the other competitors would be likely to vote for you...I guess!:bouncy:
