OK, where have I been? With this time limit, even I (who have not put paint to brush in over a year, due to Real Life (TM) meddling *heavily* in my affairs) can enter!!! Count me in, competition and small prize (fun or what?). :bouncy:

i\'ll answer on behalf of finn - if hell forgive me. psychotic_carp - no you cant use anything special. just a bog standard sm with bolter. no special weaps/bare heads/characters/extras/any other special bitz that i have forgotten to add. the emphasis is on making an otherwise boring mini into something interesting using the paintjob alone.
to everyone - good luck and happy painting!!:D

No such thing as not allowed..

Hi Ceno!

This is the sort of situation I was dreading. There is absolutely no question of \'not allowing\' anyone to take part. This is a free site and as I have said anyone can post what they like. This idea of a little competition has grown and evolved over the last few weeks and we are very much making up the rules as we go along. As I see it there are basically two competitions running in parallel. The outright winner will be the person who gets the largest number of votes by the end of the year. This would appear to be simplest criteria and there is no prize other than kudos, pride and a \'warm glow\'.

There have been a number of people however, who have suggested a \'competition within a competition\'. It was felt that a SMALL prize such as a pot of paint would be a nice idea. The intention was for people who wanted to go down this route to
1) Inform me so I knew \'who was who\' and could contact them.
2) Send me an email at the end of the competition ie sometime in September ranking all the other people\'s models who wanted to compete in the \'small prize competition\'. I would then do some simple statistics and calculate an overall winner. I would then email this person\'s address to the others so they could do what they felt was appropriate, send a pot of paint, put $2 in their Pay Pal account etc. The problem your question poses is this: If fredy or cyril or goatman or arjay or any of the other \'Gods\' enter this sub-competition everyone else might as well give up and simply send them a pot of paint to save time.

However, there is no reason why they should be excluded and I am sure everyone would be delighted to see their submission.

I would really welcome your views and mahon\'s and anyone else as to what they think is fair. ???

Please send me your views, either here,or to steveapted@aol.com

IMHO, I don\'t think anyone should be banned from entering, specially being a friendly competition with \"no real prize\" (c\'mon, a pot of paint is close to nothing!). In fact, I\'d possibly NOT enter a serious competition if I knew several of the big names were entering, but I don\'t mind entering this one. My 0.01€, anyway...

Count me in.

I am in. And I just happen to have about 10 of the old space hulk termies. Can I use one of the old Librarians? Trust me they still fit the bill..

Hi JimG! Welcome to the gang. I think you ought to look back a few posts and have a quick look at the rules. I appreciate what you are saying about the basic (very basic!) nature of space hulk termies, but the original challenge was to paint a basic space marine, no characters, no special weapons, no rank, helmet on etc. Now you can post any figure you like, but I suspect that you will be absolutely hammered in the voting by the other contestants if you post a librarian terminator. I know it\'s basic, but it does seem to contravene a number of the agreed rules. Sorry to sound like a party pooper!:(

So, in summary...

This is the way I see it then...

I\'m able to paint any miniature other than a space marine, able to convert it to any pose that I see fit, able to build up the base to about 3ft high with all sorts of stuff hanging off it and then win a million pots of paint, right? Finn? Finn! Why are you getting angry at me? Finn, I\'m sorry lol

I\'m going before Finn kicks my hairy white behind!

Rev :innocent:

Can I go now....lol

\'VA\' \'SM\' comp

Thanks for the reminder finn17:)

I have two minis to finish off before I start on the SM for this comp. I reason that by the time I finish painting my practice minis I\'ll be painting at a standard that is competitive (I hope)...

Of course there is the risk that by the time I finish painting my practice minis it\'ll be winter 2030... We will see

Fun, fun, fun :D

Well, I have just signed up to this site, not painted anything in 5 years, never really got into painting back then either, but this friendly competition sounds like great fun and an oppotunity for me (ex-eldar general - nick gives it away somewhat) to get to grips with one of those damn marines!
